English Paper Piecing - September progress

It's hard to believe that another month is over and I am sitting here and writing another blog about my English Paper Piecing progress. What I can say is this month has been a very interesting month with this journey. I have continued to figure out the various threads and needles that I like so that has made it a little different. Hopefully I will be able to write a separate blog about that journey before long as I am feeling like things are getting a little more organized on the thread and needle front.

Popsy Throw (my sister's) - this is one of the projects that got some much-needed attention this past week. As the weather has started to cool down some it has meant that I have been able to think about starting to attach motifs to the various projects that I have on the go.

This is the first project that I wanted to move forward so I spend some time his month working on attaching some of the 2-inch motifs to the project. I still have another 34 motifs to attach to this project, so it is going to be the focus until it is done. I would like to see if I can get all of the motifs added quickly so that I can focus on getting it quilted and ready to be gifted before too long. Seeing that I have been able to get this project finished would be great so that is going to be something that I try and focus on.

I also need to finish my nephew's version of this so I will see if I can get both projects finished before the end of the year. I hope that I can do that, but it means focusing on moving them forward and not letting them sit and not get worked on.

Flower quilt - this is another project that has got quite a bit of attention this month as it is a project that is fun to work on and it is also something that is easy to work on.

Over the last month I decided it was time to at least get the first few motifs added into the quilt, so I have attached them together. This means that I should be able to start to get more of the flowers attached so that I don't have all the attaching left to the end.

This project is a lot of fun because it depends on how much time I have what I work on. Being able to have all the options available is wonderful and this is one of the projects that I have figured out the joining thread and the needle that I like using.

The remaining flowers from the August motifs got made so that is great. I am going to try and ensure that I can at least get the previous months motifs made into flowers so that they are ready to be joined to the overall quilt.

Well, as this is an easy project to work on as these are 1-inch motifs I was able to get some more motifs made and they are now ready to be made into flowers and attached to the overall project. There are still lots of motifs to be made but I am trying my best to not just make motifs but get them made into flowers as well.

This project doesn't have any deadline so it is something that I can pick up and work on when I have that bit of time. I have been enjoying working on this piece and hopefully I can continue to get bits of progress on it each month until it is finished. We will see how much attention it gets in October as I do have a couple of projects that are a priority to get finished so we will see how it goes.

Popsy's Throw - this is another project that got some attention in September. I decided it was time for me to focus on getting the motifs made for the version of the throw that is going to be mine.

It has felt great seeing that I have all of the motifs completed so now it is just to sit down and work on joining them onto the throw that I have on the go. I would love to see this throw moved forward in the next couple of months, but we will see how it goes.

Other projects - of course, I have other projects that are waiting their turn for some attention and hopefully with the cooler weather I can figure out how to move a bunch of projects forward through the various stages of the projects.

In October I would like to see some good progress on my sister's throw, so we will see what happens. I am going to be taking each day as it comes, and I will see what projects get attention through this month.

I hope to have some more progress to show you at the end of October and maybe at least one of the projects will be closer to being finished. Until then, I will see what gets attention and what projects move down the list and what other projects move up the list of things to get finished.

English Paper Piecing - July progress

Here it is the end of the month and the beginning of the month of the month and time for me to start to show you what I have been working on over the last month. One thing that I can say is I have been busy this month moving a bunch of projects forward which has been really nice. I hope to be able to continue to move things forward over the next few months because of course I have another project waiting to be worked on. Yes, I have been working on kitting up another project that will be started soon because I am running out of motifs that I need to make.

My sister's throw - here is a project that I have picked up and worked on a little bit because I wanted to make sure that I have been able to move it forward a bit. The good news is I have all the motifs finished so it is just a matter of attaching of the motifs to the throw.

This past month I have finally been able to work on moving this project forward a little bit and it is making me happy to see the progress that I have been able to make. This project hasn't been a focus for me but at least I have been able to continue to move it forward a bit and that is the most important thing. I hope to be able to continue to move this piece forward in the next couple of months as I would like to see it ready to be quilted before too long.
Scrap Throw - this is another project that I have been able to work on over this last month and the biggest goal that I had was to get all the denim motifs finished. Well, I am very happy to say that the motifs have been finished and now to figure out if I have enough to complete the border of the throw or do I need to make more.

Next month I am going to look at this project and try and figure out where I stand on it and figure out if I need to make more border motifs or not. I guess we will see what I have to say next month on this project.

Popsy's throw - this is another project that got a bit of attention over the last month. It felt good seeing that I have been able to make some good progress on making the motifs and hopefully I can continue to move this project forward even if it is slower than the other projects.

I am going to try and move this project forward this coming month so we will see how things go. I would like to continue to get the motifs finished up and see as continue to attach the motifs to the overall project. It would be nice to move this project forward a little bit so we will see what happens in the next month. I hope to be able to move this project forward a little bit.

Oh, Oh project - here is new project that we are currently calling the oh oh project because it is me looking at all the 2-inch squares that I have available and deciding that it is time to start another quilt top. Yes, this is another project that is going to be started before a bunch of other quilts are finished but this project is going to be a great project for travelling and working on a little bit at a time. I don't expect to get this project completed quickly but at least it is something that I can work on a bit at a time.

Other projects - yes, I have other projects that need some attention and a lot of them are at various stages of completion. I have quite a few projects that either need a few motifs to be made to finish the project or projects ready to be quilted. I hope over the next couple of months I can move all of these projects forward and we will see what happens.

I looked forward to the end of August when I can show you what I have been able to accomplish because I think next month is going to be very interesting if I can continue to move these projects forward.

English Paper Piece - June progress

Here it is the start of another month and the wrap up for the previous month. This month (June) I was able to make some good progress on moving one of my projects forward.

Popsy's Throw - Me - this is the project that I have been focusing on and have tried to make as many motifs as I could over the last month. It has been nice to see that i have been able to get as many motifs made as I did. It was nice to see that I have been able to continue to get the motifs made and once the weather cools down a little bit I think I am going to be trying to add some of these motifs to the throw or at least that is my goal moving forward.

Kitting up progress on motifs - this last month I decided it was time to try and figure out how to manage all the projects that I have on the go. I decided it was time to just kit up each project and maybe see if I can move things forward. What I decided to do was to make a small kit for reach of the projects that I am working on so that I have everything for that that project.

These project boxes are basically a 4 x 6 inch photo box, and it holds all of the items that I need to work on making more motifs. I also have some of these project boxes that are holding motifs that have been made and are waiting to be attached to one of the projects. It is so nice having everything available to work on that step that is related to the bin. For the pictures you are seeing these are the bins that need motifs completed on one of two projects. It is nice to know that I can continue to move these projects forward even if it is a little bit at a time.

I am not certain how I am going to be able to move these projects forward, but I think once I have got the motifs completed these bins will start to be used for the motifs that I want to add to the various throws. I do know that just being able to continue to get these projects moved forward would be great.

Making motifs is wonderful when we are dealing with extreme heat and that is what we are currently dealing with. As I am writing this on Tuesday evening, our temperature is currently 82F (28C) feeling like 102F (39F) which isn't good when it's almost 11 pm.

It has been a challenge to at least move something forward in the last couple of days so we will see how things go. I hope to be able to continue to make motifs over the next couple of days and I guess we will see what it looks like at the end of July.

English Paper Piecing - some progress finally

As promised, I said that when I had some progress to share that I would come back and write a post. Well, this month I am not certain what happened, but my English Paper Piecing came back out. It has been so nice being able to just sit and work on a project and see that I have been able to make some progress on it.

Popsy's Throw - this is the project that came out this month, and I am happy with the progress that I was able to make on it. I had some flowers made so I decided it was time to try and get them added to the very small start that I had on this project.

It didn't take me long to get the love of joining the motifs back and before long I had made some good progress on the actual throw. I know that I still have a long way to go but at lest I am starting to see that I am making some progress and that is great. Now to continue to work on this piece and see how much more of it I can get done. It has been nice to be able to at least move this project forward a bit during this last month.

I still have lots of motifs that need to be made as well so that was something else that I did a little bit of. Just seeing that I have been able to get some progress again on a project makes me happy. I know that this throw has lots of memories attached to it as all the motifs are being made from shirts that were popsy's.

Other projects - there are a number of other EPP projects in various stages that are going to need to get some attention and hopefully they will have their turn before long. It was nice being able to spend some time working on this project and seeing that it finally got some progress.

I am not certain if this is the project that will continue to get the attention or if I will pickup one of the other projects and give it some love. I guess we are going to have to wait and see when I want to work on my EPP again. It did feel good being able to make some progress on the throw and hopefully before long I will pick up my EPP again and move it forward.

There may be another blog post soon with more progress on something or it could be a while again but at least I know that I enjoyed this last month picking up and working on this project.

English Paper Piecing - November progress

Here it is December 1st and time to show you the progress that I was able to make in November on my various English Paper Piecing projects. If you read by other blog posts, you will know that I have been spending a lot of time knitting in the last month.

Popsy's throw - this is the project that got the little bit of attention that I gave my EPP this last month. I cannot believe that I only got four flowers completed because I thought I had worked on it longer than that.

I know that at least I have been able to continue to move the project forward and that is the main thing but given all the other projects that I have on the go I need to focus on moving these forward again.

Other projects - I can honestly say that I haven't worked on any of the other projects that I have on the go. Hopefully in December I will be able to start to focus on my EPP a little more and maybe even see some good progress on things. I know that I just need to pick it up a little more often and that would help.

This coming month I would like to spend some time working on getting at least a couple of projects moved forward. I know that being able to focus on my EPP a little more would be nice so maybe that is what I will try and December. Hope everyone has a good month, and I will be back at the end of December with what I was able to accomplish.

English Paper Piecing - October Progress

It is hard to believe that another month has flown by. It was a very busy month for us both personally and professionally, so I am happy with the crafting that I have been able to get done.

Popsy's Throw - this is the project that I focused on this month as I wanted to see if I could at least see something moved forward. It was nice to be able to focus on one project and see that I have been able to get a few things done.

It was nice to work on motifs when I had that little bit of time when I was sitting watching a video or just relaxing. The flowers do take a bit more time and focus, so I work on those when I have a bit more time and better lighting. It is nice to see that I at least moved this project forward again this month and now to see how things go moving forward.

Other projects - I didn't pick up and work on any of my other EPP projects this month as I didn't have the time or energy to do that. I also wanted to try and focus on one project so that I could see results instead of bouncing all over.

If you are working on your EPP projects, I hope that you are making some good progress and being able to enjoy the time you spend on them. I was someone that never liked any hand-sewing but now that I have found EPP, I enjoy the relaxing feeling of picking up my needle and thread and seeing progress on something.

I hope to have some progress to show you at the end of November but only time will tell. Have a good month and I will post what I was able to get done at the end of the month.

English Paper Piecing - September progress

Here it is the start of another month so that means it is time to talk about what I was able to get done with regards to my EPP. Well, I can honestly say that September wasn't a very productive month for me. Through the month of September, a lot of my crafting wasn't done so I am not surprised that I didn't get a lot of EPP done either.

Scrap Throw - this did get a little bit of attention as I was able to join one flower together so that is at least moving it forward so that is good. Hopefully I will be able to find some time and energy in October to try and move it forward a bit more.

Popsy's Throw - I was able to get four flowers joined together this month so yes, it is moving it forward but not very quickly at all. It was a different month for me, and I hope that I will be able to get back to working on my EPP a little more and maybe even see progress on things through October.

Other projects - I didn't pick up anything of my other EPP projects this past month so let's see how October goes. If you have been working on your EPP projects I hope you were able to make more progress than I did.

In October I hope to be able to spend some time working on moving my projects forward, but time will tell. If things are good, I might be able to move something forward and feel good about that. Now I just have to wait and see what happens so I will post the results for October at the end of the month.

English Paper Piecing - August Progress

Here it is the start of another month, and I have been able to spend some time working on my different English Paper Piecing projects. It feels good to see that I have at least been able to make some progress on things and that is great. Being able to pick up a project and work on it for a little while is always nice and these projects are the ones that do work when you have just a little bit of time to work on something.

Table runner - here is the project that was my focus as I was trying to get all the motifs added to it so that I could say that the top of the table runner is finally complete.

In August I was determined to get the rest of the motifs joined onto the runner and I got it done. It is nice to know that I have the top of the table runner completed and now what I need to do is figure out the backing that I want to use and then do the actual quilting on it.

Popsy's throw - I am continuing to work on getting more of the motifs made for this throw. The pile of completed motifs is growing so that means that I also need to get back to joining these into flowers so that I can work on moving this project forward.

Other projects - I haven't picked up any of the other EPP projects as I have been trying to focus on just working on one or two projects at a time. Once the weather was cooled down a little bit I may try and work on a couple of the projects that are further along so that I can see if I can get them moved forward and closer to a finish.

In September I haven't decided what the focus is going to be, but I do know that I want to continue to move my projects forward so will see how that goes.

English Paper Piecing - July Progress

Here it is the start of another month, and I can honestly say that I was able to make some progress on my English Paper Piecing projects this last month. Maybe, part of it is because there was a lot going on in July and I needed a project that I could pick up and work on even just bits at a time.

In August I hope that I can continue to move some of these projects forward again because it makes me happy to see what I was able to accomplish in a month.

Table Runner - here is the project that does take a bit more focus and it was something that I wanted to see if I could move it closer to being finished. The pattern does take a bit of work to ensure that you are joining the motifs correctly, but I have now figured out a method that works for me and I am getting it moved forward.

As I am looking at the second picture of the table runner, I am realizing that I don't have much more to do so hopefully I will be able to continue to work on it and maybe even get the rest of the months attached. If I am looking at this correctly, I have a row to finish attached and then just two more rows to go and this table runner will be ready for quilting.

Popsy's throw - this project is something that is fun to work on because it is just making motifs and I can get a few made in just a bit of time. It is also a project that is easy to move around so that also does help.

I know that there are a lot more motifs that I need to make before I get this project finished but it is nice to have the motifs to work on when I have those few minutes and I want to work on something.

The pile of completed motifs is starting to pile up so I am thinking that I might get back to joining these into flowers so that I can continue to make the throw a bit at a time. The nice thing about this project is I have three stages and they are, making motifs, making flowers and joining flowers onto the throw. It gives me a nice variety.

Scrap throw - this project even got a bit of attention this month and part of that is because I wanted to work on making flowers from the motifs and this was the project that worked for that. One thing I have done is I have put together seven motifs into a little bag so that means that when I want to make a flower, I don't have to pick the motifs that is already done so it is fun.

With this project I like having the bags of motifs in a small container because it means that I can take them wherever I want, and it isn't a lot of stuff to carry with me.

Other projects - I didn't work on any of the other projects that I currently have on the go and that is good because right now I would like to try and focus on getting things moved forward and not starting something else.

I hope everyone has a good month and if things go as planned, I should have some more progress to show you at the end of the month. Have a good month and if you are working on your EPP project, I hope that you can make some good progress on it.
