Progress this week

Roses - June 9
It is Monday morning, and yes, it has been a busy week.  For those of you that have heard there is a major championship parade here in Toronto today.  The Toronto Raptors won the NBA Championship last week, and the parade is this morning.  I am safely working today and avoiding all the craziness downtown. Now there has been some progress on a couple of projects this week as well.
Roses - June 16

Roses - yes it continues to see some progress each day, and over the last week, I have to move the q-snap so that I could start working on the new section of pages.  I finished one page this week and have just about finished another page, so this project continues to get moved along.

This week I am going to try and finish off another page or at least that is my goal as it depends on how much time I have to actually work on this piece.  I continue to get a few stitches in each day, and when I have a bit more time, I try and get the extra stitching in to move the piece along a little quicker. When I get across the rest of this section of pages, I will have touched the right-hand side of the design so that will be a nice feeling.  I will get close to touching that side a few more times, but the stitch in this section will be the furthermost to the right.

Someone Was Here - now this is a project that I haven't worked on for quite a while.  I know that I started this piece in 2012 and it really hasn't got a lot of attention since then.  I am now going to try and get some more of it done.  I hope that over the next month I can spend some time working on this and maybe I will start to see that I am getting closer to getting it finished.

Someone Was Here - June 15
I found this piece while looking in one of my WIP (work in progress) boxes as I was looking to work on something a little different than I have been working on lately. It feels great being able to go through the box sometimes and pull out something that has been forgotten and actually get it moved forward again.  I am not sure how much work I will actually get done on this piece as I do enjoy working on Roses, and at the end of the month, I have another project that will be getting attention.

I have quite a few things that are needing my attention this morning, so it is now time for me to get to work.  I hope everyone has a great week and you find some time to do the things that you love doing.

Progress this month

More baby hats
This week I have to admit that I haven't had a lot of time to sit and craft.

The first picture is of some baby and preemie hats that I have been working on this month.  I am hoping to have 60 hats finished before the end of July and currently have just over 30 hats completed.  No one told me I needed to get that many done it's just a goal that I have set for myself.  If I don't get that many done that is fine as well.

Now, as for the cross stitch.  Yes I am making some progress but haven't even picked it up this week.  Part of the reason for not picking it up this week is because the weather just wasn't ideal for cross-stitching.  The temperature for the last three days with the humidex was into the 40s that is 40C and no way was I going to try and work on this project.  Now that the weather has cooled down some I hope to be able to make some progress on it.

I am happy that I can get back to doing all the things that I love to do but I haven't really had the time this week to do it.  The weekend is almost here so I hope to be able to lose myself in my crafting for part of the weekend.

Off to finish a couple of work related things and then it's crafting time.

Back to some stitching

Tea Time - Kathrin Ellison
So you want to know what I have been up to lately.

Believe it or not I have been stitching but it still is slower than normal for me so I haven't been seeing a lot of progress each time I sit down and stitch.

The good news is I finished Tea Time and am very happy with how it looks.  The picture I took doesn't really do it justice as the colours are a lot nicer than they show in this picture.  I am so looking forward to doing another petit point soon but I also need to finish some of the cross stitch projects that I currently have on the go.

Now that Tea Time is finished I decided to pick up Someone Was Here and see if I can make some progress on it over the next little while.

The first picture of it is when I picked it up last Thursday and the second picture is after the weekend work that I did on it.

I am going to continue working on this cross stitch in between trying to get back to both knitting and crocheting.  The physio on the thumb is going pretty well and I am slowing getting back to normal. Now in two weeks I go and see if I can get rid of the splint.  I am really hoping that I can finally say good bye to the splint as it has been 10 weeks now of trying to deal with it.  The good thing right now is I can take it off at home and at work so I am getting back to normal a bit at a time.  The biggest step is going to be out in public without the splint on and that is the part that worries me the most.  I know that the thumb is feeling a lot better than it did.

Now to work on getting back to all the crafts that I love doing.  Step by step is what I am doing and will continue to do for the next while.

Weekend of stitching

Basic Bargello - Teresa Wentzler
So finally I am going to show you what I accomplished last weekend at the Gitta's Getaway.  It was a lot of fun and have to admit that I was sorry to see it end.

I am very happy to say that I had a happy dance on Saturday evening when I finished the Basic Bargello that I took with me.  It was nice to see it finished but I am also sad to see the end of it.  The biggest reason I was sad was because it was something very easy for me to work on considering I am dealing with the splint on my left thumb.

Someone was here - David Ellison

After I put the last stitch in Basic Bargello I picked up Someone was Here and started to concentrate on it and again made some good progress on it.  I haven't finished the Inukshuk but wanted to add a different colour so that I  have a bit of a change.  Also there is lots of blue in the background so figured I also didn't want to leave all the blue until the very end otherwise I may never finished it.

Red Mitten - JBW Designs

The third project that I took with me didn't even get one stitch put in it because I was working on the other projects all weekend.   Oh I did work on one other project and forgot to take a picture of it and that was a Stumpwork class that we had on Friday evening.  I didn't get much done on it as I found it very challenging to do with the splint so that is a project that I will work on once I can do things again without the splint.

The weekend did include a Marketplace and that is another reason I didn't get as much stitching done.  I of course had to shop and see what all the designers had to offer.  I could have bought more stuff that I did but I realize I only have so much time to stitch.

The entire weekend was great and it was wonderful seeing everyone that attended the getaway.  Some people we only see on this weekend while others we see in the store from time to time.

I hope to get some stitching done on these pieces soon as they have been calling to me but other things have needed to be done.  Time to sit back and figure out what needs to get done and then also find some time to stitch.

Progress before the weekend

Bargello Basics - Teresa Wentzler
So here are all of my current projects and where they stand before this weekend when I basically hide and stitch as much as I can.

The Basic Bargello is getting there and I do want to have it finished by the end of this weekend so that is going to be the project that I concentrate on first.  I figure if I can work on it for a few hours it will be finished and then I will be able to work on my next project.

Someone Was Here - David Ellison
Someone Was Here is a lot of fun to work on as you can see the Inukshuk appear as I work on it.  Also I started in the middle of the pattern so that it was a little easier for me as well.   I am not sure how much of this one I will get done but it is going with me as well.
After I work on this project I have a third project started and will see if it actually gets any stitches done on it this weekend.  Yes I am working on a christmas design already but it is a simple pattern so something that I can work on and see results quickly.  Also considering the brace it means that I don't have to rethread my needle a lot of times due to colour changes.

Red Mitten Collection II - JBW Designs
So now to see what each of these look like at the end of the weekend and see what else got started.  I am pretty sure at least one more project will get started but will see.  Now to spend some time stitching and relaxing and seeing friends.

Weekend Progress

Bargello by Teresa Wentzler

Someone Was Here - by David Ellison
So I finally remembered that I was going to post a picture of my progress for this past weekend.

The first picture is of a Bargello by Teresa Wentzler.  I got this kit in 2009 at the Creative Festival when I took the course.  I never started this kit and really don't know why but I am glad I had it for now.  This pattern is working up very quickly and I am enjoying it.  It has been a simple pattern to work on and it has helped me learn now to do more cross-stitch with my right hand.  I hope to have this piece completed by the end of this coming weekend as I will be taking it to the Gitta's Getaway which is this weekend.

The second piece that I started is called Someone Was Here and was designed by David Ellison from Gitta's.  This is another project which I will be taking away with me this weekend to see how much of it I will be able to do.

The second project is on Aida cloth as I was having problems getting my needle into the holes of a linen so figured this would be easier for now.

I am slowing getting projects back into my routine even with the splint on my left thumb.  I know that I am not going to be as fast I am without the splint but at least I am getting things done again which makes me feel good.

So before this coming weekend I will post some pictures of where the projects stand before the weekend.  I know that the Bargello has changed quite a bit since the picture and I have also started another project as well this week.  I am going to have lots of projects to work on this weekend and will see what actually gets done and what new project I find at the NeedleWorkers Marketplace and start before getting home.

Now to see if I can get a few more stitches done on Someone was Here.
