Progress and a new project

Lady - August 16

This week I have been trying to focus on getting one cross stitch project moved forward as I wanted to see how much of it I could get done if I just focused on it instead of bouncing around on a couple of projects. I also knew that I wasn't going to have a lot of time to stitch so something where I could see some good progress would be great.

Lady - August 27

Lady -- this is the project that I decided to try and focus on to see if I could make some progress on it during this week.  I have to say that I was able to spend a couple of evenings working on this design and am happy with the progress.

I have started working on the face and hair and have also been able to get some good progress done on the cloak.  I was going to work on the face but then figured it would be great if I could spend a bit of time this weekend working on the cloak so that is what I did.  I still have quite a bit of stitching to do on the dress and the cloak but at least I can now see that I have been able to make a bit of progress on the area.

I am thinking that Lady may continue to be my focus on project until Friday when Quotes to Live By is released.  I have seen some good progress on this piece and now would like to see a bit this week.

Fluffy Meringue Shawl - August 27

Fluffy Meringue Shawl -- now this is a project that I started this week and am very happy with the progress that I have been able to make. Each of the sprays is four rows so it is a pretty simple pattern and I am loving how quickly it is working up.

I found this pattern on The Crochet Crowd and have seen a couple of pictures of the shawl finished so decided that I was going to get some yarn for it and make it for a dinner that I am going to be attending at the end of September. The pattern is called Fluffy Meringue Shawl and it is a quick project to work on. You do work on the shawl from the top down so yes the rows are getting longer as I go but with it being a simple pattern it is enjoyable to work on.  I have 8 sprays completed now and I am aiming to make it around 12 sprays long so will see how that goes and what it looks like once I get it to that size.


Besides working on these two projects I have been busy getting some of the other projects moved forward and also work has been keeping me busy.  This is the last week of the month so that means that I am going to be trying to get a few more things wrapped up before Thursday evening so will see how things go.  I hope to be able to get some stitching in on the final quote next weekend but will see how the rest of things go.

This last week I was lucky to meet someone that was also a crocheter and am looking forward to running into her again.  It is always nice to meet someone else that enjoys crafting.

Moving things forward

Cirque des Cercles - Ink Circles - Dec 29

This week I decided that I was going to try and move some pieces forward and that is what I was able to do.

Cirque des Cercles - Ink Circles - August 14

Cirque des Cercles -- now this is a project that I was working on and I hadn't picked it up since December 29th so it needed a bit of attention. I was able to spend a little bit of time on it on Monday and it felt good seeing that it finally get some attention.  I hope to be able to spend some more time on it in the next couple of months but will see how that really goes.

Linen and Threads Mystery Stitch Along - July 29th

Linen and Threads Mystery Stitch Along -  this has seen some attention in the last month but I decided that I was going to try and get the February section of the piece finished before the end of August.  I had one part of February done so it was just one section so I picked it up and worked on it for a while and finally get February done.

It feels so good seeing that I was finally able to get February done and since I have already started working on March I hope to be able to continue working on it and maybe get some more of that done as well before too long.

Lady - July 21

Lady - now this is a piece that I am working on for the Art Show next year so it of course needed some attention this week so it was the other piece that I decided to work on. I have been working a lot on the actual cloak and dress ares so I figured that I was going to try and get a bit more of the upper part of that done and it felt good.  I am thinking that I am going to try and work on parts of her face and hair as well for a bit of a change.  The cloak is just two colours and the dress is two colours as well so not a lot of changes of colours in that section.  The face and hair have a lot more detail so am looking forward to doing that.

Tiger Lily - August 13

Tiger Lily - now here is the other piece that got a bit of attention but not much at all. This is another one of the Art Show pieces so I am hoping to make some good progress on it over the next little while.

I am seeing parts of the flower appear now so that is nice and I am going to continue to work on it and see how quickly I can get some more of the areas done.

Tiger Lily - August 17

I am happy with the stitching that I have been able to accomplish in this last week.  I have been doing my stitching in the evenings and on the weekend.  There are a lot of other things that I have been working on and work has been keeping me busy so that is nice.  My stitching is my escape and it is also a means of me stitching my mind back together.  I sometimes use my stitching as a way of figuring out how I am going to be accomplishing something else.  My stitching is sort of like my meditation because it helps clear my mind of everything that I am working on and I quite often get the ideas that I have needed for something that I have been working on.

This week I hope to be able to get a bit more stitching done because I would like to get a couple of the art show pieces moved forward a bit more.  Until then I have work that needs my attention so I am off to do that.

Quotes to Live By - August 7th

I was able to get a little bit of stitching done this week and am happy with some of the progress that I have been able to make.

Quotes to Live By - now this was the project that I decided that I was going to focus on first this week as I wanted to see if I could get the 8th part of the quote finished before the end of this last week.

Quotes to Live By - August 11th

After I was able to figure out the problem with the pattern I was able to focus on the actual stitching of the section and it seemed to come together pretty quickly.  I got some stitching done during the week and on Friday was able to finish off the quote so now there is just one more quote to go and then this piece is finished.

The final quote will be released on September 1st and I will try and get it done quickly to have this piece totally finished.  I look forward to having this piece off q-snap so that I can see the entire piece and not just the sections that I get to see while working on it.

Tiger Lily - July 30th

Tiger Lily - after getting Quotes to Live By done it was time to pick up a project to see if I could make a bit of a dent in it before the end of the weekend.  Tiger Lily was just that project but it didn't get any attention until Sunday evening when I finally looked at it and started to make a bit of progress on the design.

Tiger Lily - August 13th

I didn't get a lot done on the piece but at least I am slowly starting to see a bit of progress on it and that makes me happy.  I am going to see if this coming week I can spend a bit of time on this piece and will see how much of it I can actually get done.  Just seeing that the oranges are starting to make an appearance is making me happy.  I am looking forward to seeing how this piece turns out.


Once again I didn't take the pictures that I have been trying to do for the other projects that I have completed. I am starting to see that the other projects are finally starting to come together and I am getting some of them finished which makes me happy.

This week I hope to be able to get some of the other projects worked on that I have on the go right now.  I look forward to being able to show you some of the things that I have been working on but that is still a little bit of time from now.  I continue to work on the different projects and know that I will be happy when I can actually have the pictures to show for the work that I have been doing.

Today is a busy day so will see if I can get everything done that needs my attention and then maybe I will find some time to stitch.

Not a productive week

Quotes to Live By - Part 8 - August 7

I have to admit that it has been one of those weeks when stitching just didn't happen.

I started Quotes to Live By on the 1st of the month and the progress on it was extremely slow this month. The border which is something that I can normally get done quickly took me longer than I figured it should and then I decided to start working on the main part of the design and that started to make me happy because I was starting to see some progress and that was only on the 6th of the month.

Quotes to Live By - August 6

Yesterday, I was able to find a little bit of time and I continued to work on the green section of the design and I got all of that finished.  Well, as you can see from the top picture the green section is missing and that is because
I stitched it with the wrong colour. Now the reason for stitching it in the wrong colour is quite simple.  I printed the pattern off in black and white and two of the symbols look the same.  The symbol for 352 and 993 are the same on the black and white pattern.  It is only when you see the colour copy of the pattern would you discover the problem or when you go to add the next colour and figure out they just don't go together.

So instead of being able to continue to work on the design last night I ended up taking out the entire green area. I was pretty frustrated because after not getting much time to stitch this week I thought I was going to be able to make some progress on this piece finally.

I am not sure how much stitching I am going to be able to accomplish again this week as it is another busy week so will see how things go.

Besides not getting much time to stitch I didn't get the pictures taken that I wanted to do this last week.  I have a couple of projects that got moved forward and am happy with them.  Hopefully this week I will find some time to take some pictures of the projects and will show you what else I have been up to.

Hope everyone has a good week and I will see what I can accomplish this week.  Maybe Quotes will get some attention and maybe it won't.  I am not sure how things are going to go so will see what I actually end up stitching on.
