Slow Progress

Konecny Logo - May 11th
This past week I wasn't able to spend a lot of time working on crafts but that is fine.  I was at least able to work a little bit on making a few more baby hats.

More baby hats
The baby hats were the big project that got worked on this past week and now I am sitting with 12 more hats ready to be finished. I need to sew the ends in on the hats and then they are ready to go into the bag and be ready for being given to the hospital.  It feels so good when I can see that even when I haven't had a lot of time to focus on crafting that I have something that I can show for it.

This weekend the heat also meant that I really wasn't in the mood to be sitting and holding either yarn or floss so I just took some time to relax.  It did feel good being about sit outside once again and enjoy some of the fresh air instead of having to be stuck indoors.  The heat and humidity was really bad this weekend as we had temperatures around 30C and with humidity around 40C but if you were able to be in the shade it wasn't too bad.

This week I will see what crafting I will be able to find some time to do.  It would be great if I could work a bit on the Konecny Consulting logo as I would like to get it completed.  I also know that baby hats will probably be worked on a little bit at a time so I do have things that I would like to get worked on.  Now I just need the time where I can sit and work on them and not have all the other items that need to be done on my plate.

The pile of work is still around so that is what needs to get done first so now it is time for me to go and get some of that done.

Progress for the week

Purple v-stitch afghan - May 23rd
This past week I wasn't able to get a lot of crafting done but I did find a bit of time to enjoy the sunshine and work on an afghan on holiday Monday.

This afghan has been sitting and slowly been worked on for the last couple of months.  This was one of the projects that I was working on between all the cross-stitch projects that I did. The v-stitch afghan is a very simple afghan so it means that I can pick it up and work on it while I have a few minutes and need to do something with my hands.

In the last week I was able to get it from half done to completed and that was wonderful.  It doesn't take me long to make an afghan but when I am just working on it a few minutes at a time the progress seems extremely slow.

Besides the afghan I have continued to work on the baby hats and those make me happy as well.  This weekend we were able to give a friend of ours around 80 hats for the hospital.  He does the actual delivery to the hospital as he works right across the street from it.  He did the delivery yesterday for me and they were very happy to receive them as they were running low on hats.  This makes me feel so good because it lets me know that the hats are really appreciated.

Our friend was also telling us that two of his staff had babies and both of them have received hats that I have made. Seeing the smile on our friend's face made me happy because it lets me know that people do appreciate the hats.

This week I am not sure what crafting I am going to be able to accomplish but I am thinking that I may try to either work on another baby afghan or more hats.

There is a lot of work that requires my attention this week and considering it is four day week it means a lot of things to try and get accomplished in less time.  Off to getting things done.

Where did the week go?

Konecny Logo - May 5th
I would really like to know where the last week went because after looking at the cross-stitch that I was able to complete this week I really wonder what happened.

Konecny Logo - May 11th
I do know that part of last week I was busy trying to get some of the other projects off my desk so that meant that I wasn't able to focus on crafting in the evenings. Originally at the beginning of the week I thought it was going to be a week where most evenings I was able to craft but it didn't work out that way.

When I was able to find a little bit of time to craft it was enough to work on a baby hat for a little bit and that was about it. I was also able to make a bit of progress on a baby afghan so that also makes me feel a little better.  I forgot to take a picture of the afghan so that will have to wait until the next post that I do.

This week looks like it is going to be another extremely busy week for me so I am not sure how much crafting I will be fitting in.  I am thinking that when I do have the time to sit and relax I am going to try and work on a couple of baby hats.  The baby hats are something very easy for me to work on and I can see some results quickly when doing them.

I will see what this week is like and I know that when I have a bit of time I am going to enjoy the crafting because this last week I noticed how much I valued even the half hour or so some nights that I was able to get.

It is now off to gt the work done so that maybe tonight I can find a bit of crafting time before the rest of the demands on my time are back.

Found some time

Konecny logo - April 21st
Now after a couple of crazy weeks of trying to get things ready for the Art Show and also a busy week schedule I was able to find a little bit of stitching time this week.

With some juggling and making sure that I was able to get work done during the day I found some time where I could stitch some evenings.  The first project that got the attention was the logo for our business.  I wanted to see how much stitching I could get done on it this week and I was able to get all the name outlined so now I am just filling in the areas which is nice.
Konecny logo - May 5th

The logo is now one colour so that means it works up pretty quickly as I don't need to figure out when the colour changes or any of that.  Also now that I am just filling in areas I don't even need to look at the pattern so that makes it even quicker to do. I am not sure when this project will be done but I would like to ensure it is done before the end of May.  This week I am looking forward to seeing if I can get a bit more stitching done on this piece.
Monarch Butterfly - May 8th

Of course, considering all the pieces that I finished lately I figured it was time to have just one more start. The start is a pattern that I am designing so it is going to take a bit of time as I am changing colours as I stitch.  This pattern is based on a photo of a Monarch Butterfly.

This project was started Friday evening after it was all kitted and I got a bit of time then as well as a little bit of stitching time on Sunday.

It makes me happy to see that I have been able to get some stitching done.  The stitching is done in the evenings when the work has been completed and a lot of evenings this means there if I get stitching time I am normally sitting down for around an hour of it before going to bed.

This week I am not sure how much stitching I am going to find but I hope to be able to get some done.  I do have stitch night this week so that does mean that I have one evening where I normally can get quite a bit of stitching done so will see if that happens this week.

Now it's time to get the work done that is on the agenda for today and then I will see if there is any time left for stitching later in the evening.

Slow week

Art Show - April 29 - May 1st
This last week wasn't a week to get a lot of stitching in as I had another project on the go.

The project that I was working on was finishing up all the framing for the Art Show that I was participating in this past weekend. It was great having this many in the show this year as last year I had two pieces.

Throughout the Art Show I heard a lot of really nice comments which made me feel good.  All the hard work of getting all of these pieces done paid off.   One piece also found a new home and that as Growf which I finished earlier in April.

Blackwork Dragon - April 28th
Once I got all the pieces ready for the show I was able to sit down and start another project.  This is Blackwork Dragon by Jennifer Aikman-Smith and it goes along with the Blackwork Knight and Blackwork Princess that I have done.  I didn't get a lot of time to stitch as this was actually started on Thursday.  I took it with me for the weekend to see if I could find some stitching time but it came home with maybe two stitches done on it.

Now that all the pieces are framed and I have finished the Art Show I am going to try and focus on getting a couple of the other pieces finished that I have on the go.  The Konecny Consulting logo will probably get some attention soon as well as Bluenose Dime.  I would like to get both of these pieces completed so I am thinking that is what I am going to be focusing on for a while.

It is now time to get some work done as it is the first working day of the month so it means it is time to sit and get all the invoices out to the clients.

Tonight I hope to find a little bit of time to craft as between work and getting all the pieces framed I haven't done much for the last couple of weeks.
