Progress on items

Roses - July 4
Here it is Monday morning, and I was able to get some crafting in last week but not very much.

Roses - now here is a project that hasn't had any attention since the beginning of July so I figured it was time to pull it back out and see if I could at least get the one rose completed.
Roses - Sept 29

I sat and worked on this project a bit and finally can say that the main part of that rose is now complete and I have also completed the top half of the pattern.  This rose was the only section remaining to complete that top half so now I am going to be working on the lower half of the pattern and I don't think there are as many stitches in the bottom half as there were on the top half.  I hope to get back to working on this piece on a more regular basis.

One thing that helped was I found an app for my tablet that helps me mark off a pattern very easily.  The app is called Pattern Keeper, and it is for full coverage patterns.  Sure Roses isn't full coverage bu the app works wonderfully, and I am looking forward to using it when I pick up one of my full coverage pieces again which should be soon.

Everyday Shawl - Sept 22
Everyday Shawl - now this project has got the most attention of anything this past week.  I have tried to pick it up even for a few minutes every day to ensure that I can see some progress on it and I have.  The shawl measured 5.5 inches last weekend, and this weekend it is now 11 inches, so that was nice.

I am looking forward to seeing if I can get more of it knit this week as I am now on the main section of it and I don't have to look at the pattern any more until I get to the 30.5 inch mark.

I hope to be able to see some more progress on this shawl this week as I love being able to work on it around 20 minutes each day and then seeing what it looks like.  Some days I can get more knitting in, and other days I might get a row in, but at least I have been able to keep the shawl moving forward.
Everyday Shawl - Sept 29

I have been working on a couple of other projects, but I will write about them next week when I have been able to take some pictures of them.

Linen and Threads Mystery SAL section for October has been released so I hope that this week I can spend some time working on it.  I love the small projects as it does help make sure that I can see some progress on my stitching.

It is now time for me to wrap up here and get some work down as the list of things for this week is rather long.  Hope everyone has a great week and you find some time each day to do something that you love doing.

Slow progress

Everyday Shawl - Sept 15
Here it is the start of another week, and some progress has been made on a couple of projects this week.
Everyday Shawl - Sept 22

I didn't have a lot of time to work on projects, so I grabbed when I did have and decided that I would focus on only a couple of projects and see how things went.
English Paper Piecing - Sept 15
English Paper Piecing - Sept 18

Everyday Shawl - this project has been moving forward at an ok rapid, and that is because I have been trying to knit at least 20 minutes a day on something.

I started the week with one chevron completed and ended the week with 4 of the chevrons finished.  I still have to add almost three more before I start the main section of the shawl, but I am loving how this one is turning out.  I want to see if I can get the other chevrons done before the end of the month but will have to see how the rest of things go.

I had been working on a circular need for this project but decided to go back to using the straight needles, and the speed of my knitting picked up which helped me get all the knitting done that I did this last week. Now to see how much attention this gets over this coming week as I would like to continue with the minimum 20 minutes a day knitting.

English Paper Piecing - so here it is, and I know that the pictures don't look a lot different and that is because the only difference is I was able to finish joining all the motifs together and remove some more of the paper templates.

I am still looking forward to working on getting some more of this project done as well as work on seeing what else I can make with these motifs.  I have come up with a couple more ideas besides the sewing kit holder so now to see what I can accomplish.  I know that making the motifs is a lot of fun and I do have a bit of a pile of fabric waiting to be made into the motifs so that might be part of what I focus on this week when I have a few minutes to sit and sew.

Modern Nordic - Sept 13
Modern Nordic - here is all the cross stitch that I completed this week and part of that is because I was busy working on a bunch of other things so sitting and stitching didn't happen as much as it does some weeks.  It didn't bother me not sitting and working on a lot of my cross stitch projects as I know that I had other things that I needed to get done and they were more important.

It would be nice to see this little project done before the end of the month, but if it doesn't get done this month, there is always next month when I can get it done.  I know that getting it finished soon is one of my goals, but I am not going to stress about when it is completed.

Modern Nordic - Sept 18
This week I have a bunch of things that I am going to be working on so that means that the evening time if there is any free time, will be spent trying to relax and hopefully working on something that I enjoy working on.  I have lots of things that I would like to work on, so I will see what gets my attention this week when I have the time.

I am now going to go and get some work done that I need to get done and hope everyone has a great week and you find time to do the things you love doing each day.

Another finish and some progress

Linen and Threads Mystery SAL'19 - Sept 11
Here it is Monday morning, and yes I have been able to find some time in the evenings to do a few things this last week.

A long post today as a lot of projects moved forward.

Linen and Threads Mystery SAL'19 - I finally picked up this piece and worked on it as I didn't think it would take me long to get it done.  I picked it up Tuesday evening and then Wednesday evening when at a stitch night with some friends I was able to get it finished.  I love how this entire piece is turned out and am looking forward to seeing what comes next as we are only three months from finished this entire project.

I continue to use the three original colours that I picked and will see if after the final section is released if I will add any beads or glitter to this piece.
Modern Nordic - Sept 12

Modern Nordic - this week I was looking at all of my projects and realized that everything that I had on the go was big so it was time to have a small project on the go.  It is nice to have something that I should be able to finish quickly available, so that is when I decided to start this project.  Again it is a small piece so shouldn't take me too long to finish.

I worked on this piece for about an hour, and this is how far I got so I am getting close to the right-hand side of the piece and then it will be just moving down and finishing the rest of it.  I would like to have this piece finished before the end of the month, but time will tell.

Krozwyrd - this project by Long Dog Samplers has been on my list of things that I wanted to start for a while.  I have seen several people finish this design and feel in love with it.  The original design is stitched in one colour so it shouldn't take too long to stitch.  Instead of doing it in one colour, I decided to do three colours, so will see how it goes.
Krozwyrd- Sept 14

I finally decided on the colours that I wanted to do and made a bit of a start on it this weekend, so I will see how quickly I can get it moved forward. I decided to start by outlining some of the squares, so that is as far I have got, but at least it is a start.  Now to see when I get back to this piece as there are a lot of other pieces on the go that I should be paying some attention to.

English Paper Piecing - Sept 8th
English Paper Piecing - I finally got back to adding some more of the motifs onto this piece and am happy with the progress that I have made.  I now have one more motif to add to the entire piece, and then a few of the side joins in sewing together.  It hasn't really taken me that long to sew them all together.  Once the joining is all done, it will be time to work on making this into a sewing kit.

I am looking forward to seeing the finished project.
English Paper Piecing - Sept 15

I have lots more fabric ready to make into motifs so that is something that I will be working on a bit at a time and deciding what colours will be going into the next sewing kit that I make.

MAP - I did work on this project a little this over the past week, but it wasn't much, and as it was in the border it didn't look like I had got much done so there is no picture this week.

Everyday Shawl - Sept 15
Everyday Shawl - here is the start of a shawl that I started knitting this week.  I had seen someone else knitting this shawl and loved how it was turning out so I decided that it was something that I would like to make.  I found the pattern on Ravelry and figured out the yarn that I wanted to us and Friday evening I finally make a bit of a start of this shawl.

The picture is just the corner of the shawl, but it is moving forward, and I look forward to seeing what it looks like when I get future along on it.

As you can see, I worked on several projects over the last week.  I enjoyed the variety as I needed a change from working on one or two projects over a week.  I will see what this week has it store for me.  I am now heading off to get some work done that I need to do and will see what I have time to work on later today.

Hope everyone has a great week and you find time to work on something that you love each day even if it is just for a few minutes.

A finish and a bit of progress

Needleworker - August 27
Here it is Monday morning, and I am happy with the progress that I was able to make last week.  I didn't have a lot of time to stitch, but at least I was able to make some good progress with the time that I had available.

Needleworker - September 8
Needleworker - this project was the one that I focused on when I had some time to sit and stitch.  I decided that instead of bouncing between a couple of projects, I am going to focus on one and see if I could get it finished.

Original Needleworker pattern
Once I started to focus on this piece, the letters quickly got stitched, and then the border and the little leaves and berries didn't take long to finish.  Again this is my adaptation of a cross-stitch pattern that I had seen.  Sure it isn't exactly like the original pattern which I didn't have, but I am happy with how mine turned out.

Now that I have finished stitching it, I need to figure out how I am going to display this piece.  I am not sure if it will end up like a little pillow or as a bell pull.  I think I will give it a few days before I decide on how to finish it.

English Paper Piecing - Sept 2
English Paper Piecing - now this project didn't get much attention at all this week, and I am now thinking that I need to get back to attaching all the motifs.

English Paper Piecing - Sept 8
I was able to spend some time joining some of the motifs, and I am still enjoying the progress.  This week I hope that I can find some time to work on getting the rest of the motifs attached.  The attaching the motifs isn't a difficult task it just means sitting down and working on them for a little while.  The motifs on the outside still need some joining together, but at least now I have started to remove the paper motifs out of some of the centre pieces.  The outer motifs won't get the paper removed until I have finished attaching all the other motifs and I am ready to continue to work on the sewing kit.

This coming week I hope that I can find some time to work on my English Paper Piecing as well as I would like to get some of the Linen and Threads Mystery SAL - September section worked on.  I will have to see how this week goes as I do have a few things that will be taking my time.

It is now time for me to start to get the work done that is sitting here on my desk and then will see what time I have to sit and relax in the evenings.  Hope everyone has a great week and you find the time to do something that you enjoy doing even if it is only for a few minutes each day.

A bit of progress and a new project

Needleworker - Little House Needleworks
Here it is Tuesday morning, and I have a bit of progress to show you from last week.  I didn't get a lot of time to stitch, but besides cross-stitching, I tried a new project.

Needleworker - August 27
Needleworker - here is a project that I have wanted to stitch for a while.  I saw the original pattern by Little House Needleworks and the only way we could get the pattern was to buy the entire kit, but I could never find it, so I designed my version based on this design.  I know that mind isn't going to look exactly like the to picture, but that is fine with me as it is going to be something that I wanted.
I didn't get a lot of stitching done this week, but at least I was able to get 2.5 of the letters completed, so that is a start.  I hope to be able to pick this piece up again and see how much more of it I can get done over this coming month. We will see what it looks like when it is all stitched with the colours that I chose and the different placement that I did.
English Paper Piecing - August 27

English Paper Piecing - here is a project that I decided that I wanted to try and see what it was like.  This is English Paper Piecing, and I am currently working on making a sewing kit out of the hexagons that I have been making in the last week.  I wasn't sure how I was going to like this type of project as there is a lot of hand sewing, but I have been enjoying it.  The fabrics that I am using are remnants from other projects that we had done.

When I say that I am doing this to people, the first reaction I get is that sounds so difficult, and I couldn't do it.  I thought that at first as well but after doing a couple of the motifs I found it wasn't so difficult.  The biggest challenges that I have found so far is figuring out where to place each of the colours of fabric and then sewing some of the little seams when the paper is still in the surrounding motifs.  See with English Paper Piecing you select the fabric, and then you cover a template with the fabric.  You don't remove the template until you have finished sewing all the six sides of the piece onto another motif.
English Paper Piecing - September 1

I am currently working on sewing the motifs together for this sewing kit, but I do have fabric ready for some more projects.  I have found that this project is relaxing and it is how I have been spending my evenings.

My husband cut out the templates for me that I needed and after that, it was just a matter of sitting and making all the motifs and sewing them together.   I appreciate his help with getting all the templates cut out.

It is now time for me to get some work done that I need to get done today and then I will see what I do this evening.  I have lots of stitching that I would like to do as Linen and Threads has released the September section of the Mystery Stitch-a-long, and I also want to work on my sewing kit.  I guess I will have to see how the rest of the day goes and then I will decide what I work on this evening.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week and you find some time to do the things that you love even if it is only a few minutes a day.
