Still moving things forward

Here it is the start of another week and time to see what I actually got done in the last week. Of course, there are other things that I have been working on, but they aren't craft related, so they aren't shown here on the blog.

The weather is warming up here so that is also nice, so that means that things should start to improve around here as we are going to be able to spend some time sitting on the balcony.

Pandemic - here is the project that I was able to work on this past week, and I am happy with the progress that I was able to make.

This project is very large, so it means that it is going to take quite a while to get it done. I have decided that I am going to try and outline some sections so that they are easier to fill in when I want to work on little details. I am having a lot of fun working on sections and getting them to a point where it is just the filling in of some detail.

This past week, I was working on one area, and it did take quite a while to get this area to where it is now. I still have more outlining to go, but at least the big section is outlined. I am going to continue to work on this piece for a while and will see what I can get done. I hope to see a bit more done, but I think it will also depend on the weather and if I feel like working on something this large.

Dishcloths - I am continuing to knit some simple dishcloths, and they are making me feel good. This week I made one, and I am working on another one, and these are things that I can work on while watching the different webinars that I need to watch. This week there is a conference that I will be attending, so I will probably be working on some kitting while watching the various sessions. I am like a lot of other people and if I want to focus on paying attention to a webinar I need to make sure that I have something to keep my hands busy, otherwise I will end up doing other things on the computer and not paying attention.

Other projects - I continue to work on other little bits of the various projects that I have on the go, but nothing that is worth taking a picture of. This coming week I will see what I can get done as I know with a conference it means that I need to be able to work on things that are simple, so that means that I will probably be either knitting or making motifs for the English paper piecing. I guess I will know by the end of the week what I ended up working on and can show you next week.

I hope everyone continues to find those few minutes each day to do something for yourself. Making sure that we can find the time to recharge our own personal batteries is extremely important, so now to see how I do that in the next week. Hope everyone has a good week and will show you what I got done next week.

Crafting bug and moving things forward

Here it is the start of another week, and I am very happy with the progress I was able to make on things last week. I am now getting back to find that time and joy of crafting again, so now to see what happens in the next little while. I am going to be trying to continue to move things forward as well as get other things finished up.
Pandemic - so this piece got some attention this week, and part of that is because I decided to work on a different section of the pattern and see how much of it I could get done. Instead of working on trying to get areas finished, I decided that I was going to try and work on getting some areas outlined so that when I want to fill in areas it will be a lot easier. Just working on getting some of that done meant I was able to make some good progress on the piece.  I am still under 13% complete on this project, so I still have a very long way to go before I see it finished.

Bella Lino Wrap - here is a project that is currently sitting beside in my office, and it is something that I can pull out to work on when I have those few minutes where I can get a row or two done. I have a marker in on the wrap so that I can see how much I did in a week, and I am happy with the progress that I was able to make on it.
This wrap is very easy because the rows are simple and with it being just a two row repeat it means that I don't have to focus on counting stitches, and I can just pick it up and get the rows done. This wrap is going to be about 72 inches long when it is done, so I still have a very long way to go on it, but I am enjoying just sitting and working on it when I have those few minutes.
Dishcloths - I have decided that I am going to try and get back to knitting some dishcloths, as they are quick and easy to get done. This one is just the basic dishcloth, and I was able to get it made yesterday afternoon while I was watching some of the videos that I have to watch. I hope that I can make more of these over the next while, as they make for great small gifts when you can combine them with something else little when you are going to visit someone.
English paper piecing - this week, one of the goals that I had was to start joining the motifs that I have been making for both of the projects.

The first project is the throw that I am making, and those motifs are the bigger motifs so this week I was able to get some of them attached together, and now I would like to continue to get more of these attached and hopefully get this next top of a throw finished up before too long. This project will have 144 motifs on it when it is finished, so it is going to take a bit of time to get there but now that I have started joining the motifs hopefully it will go a lot faster now.
The second project that I am working on is using the small motifs, and this project is going to be for some needle books and items like that. What I am now trying to do is get the motifs all joined together, and then I will be about to make the various items. This project has a long way to go before it is finished, but I am having a lot of fun joining the motifs on this and seeing how quickly the piece grows. The clips on the side are showing me the width that I wanted, so now I will be trying to just make this piece longer.

I hope everyone is finding some time to do the things that you love doing. It might only be a few minutes each day, but at least it is something. I know that finding time can be a challenge but setting aside those 10 or 15 minutes a day are important. I hope everyone has a good week, and maybe next week I will have something else to show you.

Crafting bug has returned

Here it is the start of another week and I have to admit that I have been able to find some of my crafting time again. I wasn't sure why I couldn't craft, but at least now I have started to find my crafting bug again, and it makes me feel very good. I hope that I can continue to make progress on things over the next while, as it felt good this week seeing the progress that I have been able to make.

Welcome - here is a project that I started as it was something simple to work on, and I figured I might be able to see bits of progress on it.  I wasn't sure how long it would take me to finish this piece, but once I got started, I figured out that I should take me too long to see it finished.

This past week I figured I was going to focus on this piece until it was finished and am very happy to say that I got it done. I haven't figured out how I am going to finish it yet, but I do know that it is only around 4 inches round, so I have a lot of options on how to finish it, and I am looking forward to doing just that. I am happy getting this piece done, as it means that there is one less thing on my list of projects that I would like to stitch.

I haven't figured out the next project that will be my focus piece, but at least I know that I have got this project finished, which always makes me feel good. I have things that I would like to stitch that shouldn't take too long, so those might be the projects that get the attention so that I can get more of them done.

Magic of Books - here is a project that I haven't worked on over almost a year. After looking at this project for a while and not being motived to work on it, I decided that I was going to pick it up this weekend and see what I could get done on it. Part of the challenge with this piece is the large area of black that I still need to stitch. This weekend I decided that I was going to ignore that section and see what I could do.

This week I decided to move the frame a bit and see if I could at least make some progress on things, and I was able to get over 700 stitches completed and that made me happy. Yes, most of them were black stitches, but at least I got another section moved forward. I hope that I can continue to see bits of progress on this piece as I have missed it, but I also know that I have other projects that I would also like to see moved forward.

I hope that now that I have pulled this project out, I can continue to make progress on it, even if it is just bits of progress instead of the major progress that I felt that I needed to do before. I am just over 16% completed on this piece, so there is still a long way to go on it, but at least through this weekend I was able to get some stitching in and that is what is important. I have moved this project forward a bit, and I am happy with that.

Bella Lino Wrap - here is a new start on a wrap that I want to make more myself. The piece doesn't really show the colour of the yarn. It is a nice turquoise, which means that I want to get this shawl done as quickly as possible, but I also have other things that need my attention, so will see how it goes. I am currently trying to work on this project at least 30 minutes a day, so will see how quickly I can move it forward. It's a nice and easy pattern so something that doesn't take a lot of attention and that means that I can enjoy working on it.

English Paper piecing - now here is something that I have finally got back to working on over the last couple of weeks. Over this week, I decided to try and make some progress on two different sets of motifs. The small motifs are for some projects that I am thinking about doing and haven't decided now to do them yet. The large motifs are for the throws that I am making using the fabric from shirts that belonged to my dad.

I am happy with the progress that I was able to make on both of these sets of motifs this week. By the time that I had finished the weekend, I had completed over 50 of the small motifs and just over 40 of the large motifs. Now what I need to do is start to join the motifs together so that I can start making the fabric for the two projects.

The large motifs will end up in a group of 12 x 12 motifs, and they will end up as a throw some either my sister, my nephew or me. I still have three throws to do the tops of and the other throw which is for my mom just needs to be finished. My mom's throw just needs the quilting finished, and then the binding added to it, and then it is done.

The small motifs I haven't really figured out the size of fabric that I want yet, so I am just going to see what happens when I get all of these motifs made.

Other projects - I haven't worked on any other projects this week, as I wanted to see how much I could get done on these.

I hope everyone is finding that bit of time each day to do something that you love to do. It doesn't matter what it is, but taking that bit of time for yourself if very important. We all need to ensure that we take that mental break to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves so that we are prepared to help those that we love and around us.

Next week I hope to have some good progress on projects to show you. It might not be as many as this week, but moving things forward would make me very happy.

Some progress

Here it is the start of another week, and it is finally starting to feel like spring has arrived for us. The sun is shining, and it looks like this week might be a good week to go for a couple of walks to just enjoy some nice weather.

We are starting to see more green around us and that is also helping because it means that all the trees and flowers are starting to come to life for another year. Being able to get out for a little while some days when it is warm out always makes us both feel a lot better.

Welcome - here is the piece that I started last week, and it got just a bit of attention this week. I decided to continue to work on the castle as I figure that looks like the most stitches, so it would be nice to see how much of it I could get done.

I didn't spend a lot of time on this project this week, but at least I was able to get some of it moved forward, and right now that is what is making me happy. I love seeing that I can at least get something done, even if it isn't a lot. This week I am going to try and get more of this project stitched as I would like to see it closer to being finished. I know that if I focused on it, I could get it done quickly, but this hasn't been a focus yet.

English Paper Piecing - so I finally decided to pull out my English paper piecing again and try and move this forward. This weekend was focused on making more motifs and also working on an idea that I have, so now to work on getting the idea to a place that I can see it done. Of course, I still have a long way to go before the idea will look like anything, but at least now I have the idea and can move forward on it.

I also worked on some motifs for the throws that I am making, so that was also nice. I am feeling like I want to get these things moved forward, so I may be focusing on some English paper piecing for a while.

Knitting - I have been doing bits of knitting on a bunch of projects, but nothing worth showing. It is always fun when you end up bouncing between projects and at the end of the week we look at them all and wonder what you really did.

Other projects - I continue to move other things forward, even a bit at a time, but nothing that I want to show. My planner is one of the projects that I am trying to focus on a bit more than I have been because it isn't just a calendar of what I need to do, it is also where I capture other thoughts and things that are happening.

I hope everyone is continuing to find those few minutes each day for yourself, because it is very important. We need to ensure that we are taking care of yourselves so that we have the energy to take care of those around us. I hope everyone has a good week, and hopefully next week I will have some progress to show you.

Slow progress

Here it is the start of another week and yes another week of trying to make some progress on a few things. I am not sure what I will be getting done over the next while, but at least I was able to get a bit of progress on a couple of this done this week.

Pandemic - I picked up this piece and was able to get a few stitches done on it, but it was rather difficult, so it didn't 't get a lot of attention. I think I put in one thread and that was all I was able to do, but at least I got something done on it and will see when I can pick it up again.

I would love to see this piece moved forward, and maybe in a little while I will be able to pick it up again and see more progress on it without getting frustrated with the piece. The frame that I am using is rather large, so it makes moving it around a bit of a challenge right now.

Welcome - here is a project that I started and was able to make some good progress on it. It is a small piece, and it made me happy to see that within a couple of hours I was able to see some good progress on it, and I hope that I can continue to see the progress on it over the next little while. I am very happy to have a small project right now as it means that even when I can't get a lot of stitching done, I can at least see some good progress on something.

Other projects/events - well I didn't get a lot of other stuff done this week and that is because of an injury that happened this past week. I am not 100% certain what happened, but I do know that my right thumb is extremely painful, and now to see what a specialist says. I went for x-rays, and they said it wasn't broken, but they aren't sure what is wrong, so now it is off to a specialist for further investigation.

Now you know why the crafting has been rather limited this week. Sunday was the first day that I was able to get anything done, and even that was a challenge, but I figured out how to stitch and what worked. I have been trying to do a bit more reading each day, as I know that taking the time for myself is very important.

I hope everyone has a good week, and you remember to take that time for yourself. It doesn't have to be a lot of time each day, but making even those few minutes each day does help. So, we are now off to see a specialist to see what is wrong, and hopefully I will get some answers and will be back to making progress on things soon.
