Progress for the week

Another week has come and gone and now to show you what I have been able to get done. I have been busy with work so that means that I haven't been able to get as much crafting done as normal. Now to see if I can at least make more progress on things moving forward.

It still feels great that I have been able to make progress on things and now to see if I can continue to make progress on things.

Mini the Forgotten - I have been able to make some progress on this piece this week. I continue to try and move this piece forward. It might not get a lot of attention but at least I have been able to move it forward slowly. I am continuing to try and get some of the dress completed as well as fill in some of the background. The background is slowly moving forward so that is great. If I can continue to get more of this piece done over the nice little while I would be very happy.

Florence Law - here is another piece that I have been trying to make some progress on. I didn't get quite as much work on this piece this week as I would have liked but at least I have been able to get things done. I have been able to get at least a few stitches in on each of the rows so that is great.

Of course, I didn't get as much done this week as I had hoped but at least I know that I have continued to move this piece forward. It is fun working on the letters and words and motifs a little bit at a time. I haven't decided if I am going to continue to work on a row at a time or just work on the various sections as I want to work on.

Hopefully next week I can spend a bit more time working on this piece as I would like to see how much of it, I can get done. I don't think this piece will be done by the end of the month but that doesn't bother me as I would just like to see it done quickly. If, I can spend some time working on it this piece more this week I might be able to see some good progress on it.

I have got over 50% of the piece done so that is good and now to see if I can continue to move it forward and get it done. We will see what I can get done this week as maybe things will slow down enough that I can enjoy some more stitching time.

Wedding Shawl - this project seems to have been a bit of a challenge for me over the last week. I have been trying to move this project forward but keep running into little challenges with it. Of course, the biggest challenge is when you make a mistake on one row, and you don't discover it until you have completed another 4 or 5 rows. This issue happened today so I didn't get as much progress done as I would have liked so that didn't make me happy.

I am going to continue to work on this piece as I would like to see how much more of it I can get done. I measured it part pay through this week, and I was at 31 inches so that is good. If I can spend some time to working on this shawl during the next week, I might be able to see more progress on it or at least I hope that I can.

I would like to see if I can get at a few more inches done before the end of the so that means that I need to work on that over the next week.

Diagonal Garter Shawl - well this project was going to be something that I didn't work on very much, but it became the escape when I needed something that was easy to work on.  I love how quickly this piece is working up right now and I know that is because I am still working on the increases but it's still nice to see the progress on this piece.

Now to see if I can keep this project as something that I don't work on much for a little while. I do have plans to work on it for a few days in early May but other than that I would like to see if I can put it aside for a little while and focus on getting more progress done on the Wedding Shawl.

Other projects - I have been trying to make little bits of progress on my English Paper piecing which has felt good.  It would be nice to continue working on projects as I would like to see some good progress on things before the end of the month.

There are always other projects that I would like to work on, but I am trying to keep the number of things that I work on down each week. Being able to continue to see the progress on things makes me feel so much better so will see what this coming week is like.

I hope everyone continues to find that bit of time each day to do something for yourself. Making sure that you have that bit of time does help a lot as it ensures that you will have the energy to be there for others as well as yourself each day.

Have a good week and hopefully I will have some progress on at least a couple of the projects to show you next week.

Progress, start and a finish

Here it is the start of another week and now to see how things go this coming week. It has been an interesting week as I have been pulling projects back out will also trying to continue to move projects forward that I have had on the go for the last little while.

I have also been busy doing other things outside of crafting so that has meant that I haven't had quite as much time to work on things as I would have liked.

Mini the Forgotten - yes, this piece came back out this week as I want to continue to move it forward.

I didn't get a lot of time to work on this piece this week but at least I was able to move it forward again. It is rather difficult to see a lot of the progress as I worked on filling in some of the single stitches in the areas of her dress. It is something that I have wanted to try and do so now to see how it goes moving forward. I am trying to move the background up more as well as will in the dress so that I will be able to move the entire piece up before too long.

Florence Law - here is the piece that I only started a week ago and I have been trying to make some progress on it.

This project is working on quickly and that is probably because it is just one colour and I have been able to focus on getting sections done on it. As it is a reproduction sampler, I am also making sure that if there are slight changes to the pattern, I can catch them. I hope that I can continue to move this forward in the next week.

On this project I have been trying to work each border row so that I know where all the words and letters will go moving forward. I have got to the top of the design now, so it is just a matter of willing in all of the areas. Now that I have the sections figured out, I think I will work on filling in the various sections instead of bouncing around like I have been doing.

This week I am going to be trying to focus on moving this piece forward again as I would like to see that I have been able to get closer to having this piece completed. It is currently almost 36% completed so if I can get to around 70% done by the end of this week, I would be very happy but only time will tell.

Diagonal Garter Shawl - this project became my knitting focus piece and that is because I started this shawl a few years ago and figured it was time to work on getting it finished. I discovered this piece a couple of weeks ago and figured it was time to pick it up and work on it. When I picked it up, I had 15 inches to knit on it as well as all of the decrease. This project became the piece that I worked on for the 30 minutes a day as I wanted to see if I could get it finished before too long.

Doing the 30 minutes of knitting on a project a day does help get the project moved forward even if it doesn't seem like a long time. Having that time where you can just sit and knit does mean quick a bit of progress on it. So yes, I finished this project this past week and loved how it turned out. Yesterday, I sat down and got all the ends also sewn in, so I just need to block the piece and it's totally done.

Now that I finished one version of the Diagonal Garter Shawl, I decided it was time to get another one on the needles so after deciding on which colour yarn I was going to use it was time to get my hubby to assist in winding a ball of yarn. As you can see, I didn't get very much progress on this piece last night but at least it is started and it will be the project that I work on when I want to keep my hands busy but need to focus on something else like watching a webinar or such.

This project will not be my 30 minutes of knitting a day for now but at least I have it available for when I need to pick up something for even those few minutes.

Wedding Shawl - here is the project that has come back to being the 30 minutes of knitting project for the next little while. There is no progress picture this week because I only got 30 minutes of knitting done on it. This should be getting 30 minutes a day this week and I hope to see some really good progress on it. Of course, 30 minutes a day normally means around 6 or 8 rows so hopefully I will be able to continue to do that.

Other projects - I haven't worked on any other projects this week as I have been trying to focus on keeping the number of things on the go to a minimum so that I can see more progress on a few items.

I hope everyone has a good week and you continue to find your time each day to recharge and focus on taking some time for yourself. I hope to have some progress on a few things next week but time will tell.

Moving things forward and a new start

Here it is the start of another week and yes, some different projects came out for a change this past week. We were busier than normal this last week, so I didn't have as much time to craft but I still found a bit of time most days to do something. Part of last week was the take time away from things so crafting did get missed one day.

Pandemic - here is a project that I haven't touched since September 2022, so it came out for a bit of time this past week. It felt nice to work on one small area and try and get it moved forward. I didn't get much done on the piece but at least another 500 stitches got added and now to see when it gets picked up again. I don't think it's going far away but there are other projects that I also want to work on.

Florence Law - This past week it was time for another new start, so I picked up and started Florence Law 1899. Of course, this is another red sampler that was on my list to start so I picked it up and started it on Friday. I hope that this project will be a fairly quick project to do but time will only time given other things I am doing. This project will be roughly 7 inches square when it's completed so just a nice size. This week I am going to try and get some more stitches in on this piece and see how it goes.

Diagonal Garter Shawl - here is a project that has finally come back out. I was going through some of my yarn stash a couple of weeks ago and discovered this shawl. I had been working on this three or four years ago and it just got put aside so I decided it was time to get it out again. Before this week I had about 15 inches to knit before I start the decrease for the end of the shawl. By last night I was at 14 inches knit so hopefully it I continue to work on this shawl this week I might be able to start the decrease of it which would make me feel very good. It is nice when you can find a project that you had on the go and pick it up and see good progress on it quickly.

Other projects - this past week no other projects got touched but that doesn't bother me. Part of the week was set aside as a recharge my personal batteries and do some of the other things that I enjoy doing. No, there weren't craft related but I am feeling like I should not be able to focus on getting things that I need to get done.

I hope everyone continues to take that personal recharge time as it is very important. Sometimes we even need to change up how we do our recharge as that can help a lot. Just making sure that we find some time to do something for ourselves is very important. This week I will see what I work on but I do know that I will be taking that little bit of time for myself each day as it does make me happier when I have the energy to help other around me.

Have a good week and I hope to have some more progress on things to show you next week.

Progress and moving things forward.

Here it is the start of another week and another month. I have been working hard to get things done, and I am actually saying that I have been able to make some good progress on some of the projects that I have been working on.

I have been a little busier trying to get other things achieved, so that means that the projects that have been my focus haven't got quite as much time as normal, but at least they have moved forward in the last week.

Mini the Forgotten - has got quite a bit of attention over the last month and I think I have added around 5,000 stitches between early March and the beginning of April. The first picture is where it was at the beginning of March, and the third picture is where it was when I put it done last night. It feels so good, seeing that I have been able to make some good progress on this piece in one month. I am now currently at 51.29% completed and will see how much I do in April.

Wedding Shawl - this shawl has continued to be the knitting focus, and it is becoming a little easier to work on each day as the pattern is getting a little easier to remember. Of course, I haven't been able to get in all memorized, but at least I am starting to be able to figure out what row I am working on and also what I need to do.

I am enjoying working on this project, but I think I may take a bit of a break from it this coming week to try and get another project closer to a finish. I have a project that I started a few years ago, and I found it a little while ago, and I am thinking that if I could focus on it for a bit, I might be able to get it done. The 30 minutes a day could help me see how close I can get to finish this other project, so that might be what I am going to be doing this week.

One of my goals through this year besides trying to use up lots of yarn is to pull out some of the projects that I have started in the past and try and get them finished. It is nice to start a new project and get it finished, but the projects that were started previously also need to get some time and attention to get finished.

Other projects - of course, my English paper piecing continues to get some attention as I am also trying to get the throws finished. It is going to be interesting to see what I end up working on this week as I am thinking it might be different projects just for a little bit of a change and variety.

I hope everyone is continuing to find that bit of time each day to do something that you enjoy. My knitting has become that project that I love doing each day, and it also has helped me get projects finished. This week I will pull out a different knitting project and see how much of it I can get done.

I hope everyone has a good week, and hopefully I will have some progress on at least a couple of projects to show you next week. Until then, have a great week.

English Paper piecing - March progress

Another month has come and gone, and it is once again to show you what I have been working on with regards to my English Paper piecing. It is hard to believe that March has already come and now it's the 1st of April.

This past month I did change my focus a bit with regards to my EPP, but it felt good because at least I have been able to see some progress on the various projects. Hopefully in April, I will be able to continue to move the various projects forward and see how it goes. These projects are enjoyable to work on so now to see how quickly I can move them forward.

Large motif throw - here is where a lot of my time and energy was put into. I was able to move the 2nd of the 3 throws forward and I added another 15 motifs to this throw, so I am now at 92 motifs added out of the 144 motifs. I have also had to start marking the areas so that I don't get carried away and add too many motifs to a side of the throw. I have now marked two of the sides to ensure that I can get the throw squared up so that I can get it finished instead of just continuing to make it bigger and bigger.

I hope to be able to add some more motifs to this throw in the coming month and maybe even get it a little closer to being finished.  I would also like to see if I can get the first large motif throw finished before too long.

Large motifs - along with working on attaching the motifs to the 2nd throw I decided it was time to start making the motifs for the third throw. This month I focused on just making the motifs for the next throw and by the end of the month I had made 59 out of the 144 motifs so that makes me feel pretty good.

I am not sure if I have enough templates available to get all the motifs made so that means that I need to work on getting more motifs joined onto the second throw so that I can free up some of the templates. I will continue to work on making motifs as well as joining the motifs to the 2nd throw.

Scarp throw - there is no picture this month of the scarp throw because it would be the same picture as last month as I didn't get any motifs joined onto it. Now I hope that in April I can at least move this project forward a little bit because it would be nice to get back to making the smaller motifs.

I am happy with the overall progress that I made in March on my English Paper piecing and am looking forward to seeing what I can get done in April. Hope to be able to show you some more progress on some of my English Paper piecing projects when I write another EPP blog at the beginning of May. Have a great month and I will see you when I do my next post.
