A week with some progress

Tiger Lily - July 21st

This has been a week where I decided to try and make a bit of progress on a few projects instead of just working on one of them. I also decided that I was going to try and work on some projects that haven't had a lot of attention for a while after I worked on one of the Art show pieces.

Tiger Lily - now this is one of the Art Show pieces so I wanted to try and get a bit more work on it this week and I am happy with the progress that I made.  I finally have been able to join the top and bottom sections together and now to see how the rest of the design comes together.

Tiger Lily - July 30

I am going to continue working on Tiger Lily because I am looking forward to seeing how the flower turns out.  I keep looking at this piece and can see where some of the flower is going to appear but then again I will have to wait until I have stitched a bit more to actually see the flower. This project is taking quite a bit of time but I have been enjoying all the work on it.

Linen and Threads - Mystery Stitch Along - May 29

Linen and Threads - Mystery Stitch Along - this is a project that hasn't seen any work on it for a couple of months so I figured it was time to try and at least get a few stitches done on it.  I spent a couple of hours on this piece and saw that I at least was able to make a bit of progress on it and that made me feel good.  Maybe once Quotes to Live By is finished I will get back to working on this piece and making some good progress on it.

Linen and Threads - Mystery Stitch Along - July 29

Linen and Threads does take a bit of time to work on each of the sections because I am working on 20 count fabric over one and of course it just doesn't seem to want to work well when I am trying to get areas done quickly.

Twisted Rainbow Sampler - June 5

 Twisted Rainbow Sampler - here is another project that was been put aside and hasn't seen a lot of attention in the last couple of months.  I worked on this piece in early June and then it was put aside while I worked on a bunch of the Art Show pieces.

It felt really good being able to get a bit more of this piece accomplished as well and it will hopefully get more attention after Quotes to Live By is finished which should be in early September as there are only two more pieces of that piece to be released. Seeing some of the colour changes happening is also nice and I am looking forward to adding some more colours to this piece.


Besides working on these pieces I have been trying to get some of the project envelopes finished so now they just need to be pressed and then snaps put on them.  I hope to take some pictures of the envelopes when they are all finished.

I have some work that needs to be done so I am now off to get that done and will see what crafting I am able to do this evening. 

One crazy week

Lady - July 16

I can honestly admit that I had one crazy week where stitching wasn't something that I was able to focus on.  I did try and spend a bit of time stitching as I know it sometimes helps me stitch my mind back together.

Lady - this project got the most attention this week and I have to admit that it really wasn't as much attention as I hoped to be able to give this piece.

Lady - July 21

I am now working on filling in on the lower area and I know that it is going to take some time to get all the garnet and grey sections done.  I hope to be able to give this piece a bit more attention this week and hopefully get a bit more done on the dress and cloak.  I am trying to focus on the grey of the dress because once that is done I might feel a little better about things.

Tiger Lily - July 21

Tiger Lily - now this project got about an hour of attention this week but at least I was able to see a little bit of progress on it and that makes me feel good.  I am trying to work on some areas of this piece so that I can see some progress otherwise when I loo at it I don't see much progress.  Working on the blocks of 10 x 10 or sometimes 20 x 10 means that I am at least starting to see areas some to life.  I have almost finished connecting the top and bottom on the design and then it will be adding more of the oranges to the design.

This week my goal is to get at least the side connected together and then I will see how much more of the piece that I will be able to work on.


I didn't get a lot of sewing done this week either so nothing to show as I really didn't finish anything.  Once I can sit and do some of the sewing that I want to do I will have pictures of a bunch of things that are just wanting to be finished.  Project envelopes are close to being finished but again they still need the finishing on them all.

Hopefully this week will be a little calmer and I will be able to spend some time a couple of evenings working on my stitching.  I am not sure how much time I am going to be able to give to stitching as I have a couple of projects that are going to be taking my attention but that's fine.

It is now time for me to get some of the work done that needs to get done this week and hopefully I will be able to find some stitching time as well.

Some progress

Lady - June 25th

 This week I decided that trying to focus on only a couple of pieces would be a good idea so that is what I did.  I decided that I would try and work on two of the pieces for the art show and see if I could make a bit of progress on both of them.

Lady - this is a piece that is based on some art work by an artist and I have converted her piece into a cross-stitch pattern and am now working on getting it stitched.

Lady - July 16th

I had part of her cloak outlined before I picked it up this week and now I have some of her dress outlined and have started all the filling in.  I figure having the areas that I can work on while sitting outside or when I get together with friends to stitch is great.  It means that I don't have to worry about counting stitches or looking at the pattern.  I can now just sit and stitch and enjoy the time either outside or with friends.

Tiger Lily - June 4th

Tiger Lily - this is a piece that is based on a photo and I converted it into cross-stitch and have been enjoying seeing the actual picture come to life.  I still have quite a bit more to do on this as the finished piece is going to be around 6 inches square.  I am liking how it is turning out so far so will see how much more I can get done on this piece in the next week.

Tiger Lily - July 13th

I am finally getting closer to getting the left side of the design joined and that is going to make me very happy.  Just seeing the progress that I was able to make in the last week on this is great considering the colours that I have been using.  There are a lot of colour changes in this piece so that means it is taking me longer to work on but that is fine. I am looking forward to when I am actually working on the flowers more and not just the green background which has been my focus for the last little while.


I didn't get much other crafting done last week as I tried to stay focused on the two projects.  I am now going to try and make a bit of a dent in the other things that I also have on the go and that is also after getting all my work done.

My goal this week is to continue to work on Lady and maybe Tiger Lily because I would like to see a change in both of them before the end of the week.  Other than that I have a couple of other projects that I want to work on but until they are moved forward they are just ideas so will not write about them.

I have some work that needs my attention so that will be my focus for a bit and then I will see what projects get my attention during the week and what projects will have to wait until the weekend when I can focus on them a bit more.

Two finishes in one week

Quotes to Live By - July 1

Here it is the first week of July and I have to say that I am happy with the progress that I have been able to make on a couple of projects. Having a long weekend last weekend did help a little bit because I did find a little bit of time to cross-stitch on Monday.

Quotes to Live By - July 7

Quotes to Live By - well I finally got motivated to work on this piece and it was something that worked up pretty quickly once I was able to start stitching on it.  I figured that getting this quote done also means that I am just two months away from having the entire piece completed which is making me very happy.

I am enjoying working on Quotes to Live By and yes it will be nice to see such a big piece finished but it will also be sad to see it finished as it has been so enjoyable to stitch.

Growf - June 30

Growf - as I said last week I really wanted to work on getting Growf finished this week and I am happy to say that finally last night I put the last few stitching in on him. It was a lot of fun working on this piece and now to see what project I pick up next.

Growf - finished - July 9

Growf - 2016 version

Growf - now here is a little bit about Growf.  It is a comic character that was by Phil Foglio. As it was a piece that looked interesting to try and stitch I decided to take this piece of art work and do a cross-stitch version of it. Yes it has been a lot of fun to stitch and I am now finished this version of it.   As you can see it is a big difference from the version that I did in 2016 and I am very happy with the new version.

Now Growf is the first piece finished for the Art Show in 2018 so now it is time to start working on the next piece and see how long it takes to get it finished.

Project envelopes - I am continuing to work on making some project envelopes but haven't sat down to take any pictures yet.  I have been trying to get some of the different versions of them finished before taking all the pictures.  I also have a couple of other projects on the go with regards to the organizing of my cross-stitch pieces so will show all of them at once.


Work is keeping me busy so now it is time to try and get some work done and then hopefully this evening I will be able to figure out the next project that will get my attention and make a bit of progress on it.

Our weather continues to be a roller coaster between hot and humid and then the rain.  We aren't having the heat like some places are having or the fire so I am thankful for that.  I am also thinking of everything that is dealing with the wildfires in British Columbia as I know someone that is living through this.

One crazy week

Growf - June 25

 As I said last week was going to be a crazy week for me and my stitching really shows it.  I wasn't able to make a lot of progress on anything but at least now to see if this week will be a better week for stitching and also getting other things done.

Growf - Now Growf was the one that I was working on and hoping to be able to get closer to being finished and he did get a little bit of attention.  Not as much as I had hoped so now I am going to see if I can work on him this week and maybe even get him finished. 

Growf - June 30

I am thinking that considering we still have one more day of our three day weekend left I may try and work on Growf for a while and see how much more of him I can get done.  My goal is to see if I can have him completed before the end of this week.

Quotes to Live By - yes Quotes to Live By got started on the 1st of July but I didn't get as much done as I would have liked.  I had hoped to be able to see more of this done but other things got in the way and my stitching didn't get done.  This is another project that I would like to get completed quickly.

I am thinking that if I can work on Growf and Quotes to Live By this week that I might be able to get both of them finished this week.  Of course, this also means that I don't have other things that need my attention and take away from my stitching in the evening.

Today is the last day of our long weekend so I think I am now going to go and see if I can get a bit more stitching done.  The clients are mostly closed today so that means that I have a quieter day which is nice for a Monday.

I hope to have some pictures of the project envelopes next week as I have a bunch of them being worked on currently and will try and take a picture of some of them once they are finished.

Some slow progress this week

Growf - June 18

 This week was a slower week of stitching and part of that was because of all the other demands on my time.  I did work on making sure that I was able to find a bit of time to stitch even when the rest of my schedule really was against me.

Growf - June 25

Growf -- Yes, Growf got the most attention this week and part of that was because it was a simple project that I could see some progress on quickly. Growf is a lot of fun to work n because there are not a lot of colours and I don't need to look at the pattern as much as on other patterns.

I’m not sure if I’ll finish Growf this week but at least it will be a finish early in July. I have all the outline done on Growf so now it is just a matter of sitting and finishing filling in all the areas of him. I hope that I can spend some time on him this week but I also think I need a change of projects so will see what happens.

Lady - June 13

Lady - Now there is one that I was able to continue to work on the outline of the cloak and that made me feel a little better.  I now have the cloak outlined so that means that I have a large area that I can work on filling in quickly when I have the time to just sit and stitch and not have to think about counting stitches.

Lady - June 25

I think I’m going to try and work on lady a little bit this week to see if I can add a few more colors to it.  I am working on this piece on a scroll bar so I don’t see as much of it at a time as I do when I use my q-snap frame.  This piece is also bigger than Growf so I know it is going to take me quite a bit of time to finish.

This week is going to be another busy week for me so I am not sure how much stitching I will get them before the long weekend.  This coming weekend is a long weekend here in Canada for most people.  As Canada Day falls on Saturday some companies are taking Friday off and others are taking Monday off.  For us it means we will have both a slower Friday and Monday.  I hope to be able to spend some of mine weekend sitting and working on a project.  Quotes to live by comes out on Saturday so that will be the first project that gets the attention in July.

I have some work that needs my attention so it is now time to focus on that and then I will see what stitching I can do this evening.

Progress and a couple new projects

Growf - June 10

 Here it is another week and yes I have been able to get some stitching in and that made me very happy.

Growf -- here is a project that I am having some fun with and that is Growf.  This week I started to add some colour to him and I also continued with the outlining that I need to do.

Growf - June 18

This project is moving along quickly and it is great when I can see some of the areas finished quickly.  I am going to continue working on this design as I would like to see it finished soon. I still have some more outlining to do and then the filling in needs to be completed but once the outline is done it makes the filling in go quickly.

Lady - June 10

Lady -- This project got a little bit of attention this week and it was because I wanted to get some of the cloak outlined so that I know where I need to work on the one colour for a while.  I like having a couple of projects that I know where I can just fill in a colour.

Lady - June 13

The filling in on the various projects works will when I am sitting outside on the balcony or when I am sitting with a group of friends and stitching.  I hope that Lady will get a bit more attention this week as I would like to see if I could get some more of the outlining completed on her so then I can start working on her face and some of the areas that need more attention.

Project envelope - open

Project envelopes -- here is a project that quickly happened. I saw this idea on a youtube video and liked the idea of having a case for my projects.  The envelope is a great way to keep a project all organized as well as neat and tidy way of having them out.

The original idea was for a project envelope to hold your floss and pattern and your fabric.  I liked that idea but considering when I am not working on a project I have them in plastic envelopes I didn't need something for that stage.  I needed a case for when I was working on the project and there are on the frames that they are going to be staying on for a while. It was after watching a second video where they were talking about project envelopes that I realized that yes I needed to make some but large enough to hold the project when it on the frame.

Now the project envelopes aren't really hard to make as they are just two pieces of fabric sewn together and then folded to make an envelope.  I have made two envelopes so far and have fabric to make a few more because i would like an envelope for all of my current projects so that they are all organized and tidy.

Grime Guards

 Grime Guards -- now here is a quick project that I also did this last week.  There are grime guards and are used to cover the frame you are holding when you are stitching.  The guards that I made this last week fit my 11 x 11 inch frame and my 11 x 17 inch frame and I have fabric to make some guards for my scroll bars as well.

I have enjoyed both of my sewing projects and am looking forward to getting some more sewing done in the  not too distant future.  I just need to cut out the various projects and then I will be ready to sit and sew a bunch of things.


This last week was a fun but busy week and it looks like the next two weeks are going to be just as busy.  I hope to be able to find some time to stitch this week as I am looking forward to seeing how much more progress I can make on either Growf or Lady.  Until then I have some work that needs my attention so I am going to do that and then see what time I have left where I can curl up and stitch.
