A slow week

Sabbatical Beauty - August 29
Sabbatical Beauty - September 5
This week has been a busy week for me so that wasn't a lot of stitching time but at least I have been able to move a couple of projects forward a little bit.

Sabbatical Beauty - now this is the first project that I worked on this week because I was really interested in seeing how this was going to turn out using the over dyed floss.

Sabbatical Beauty - September 9
It didn't take me too long to get this design stitched up and have to admit that I am still not sure if I like this design with the over dyed floss that I used.  Maybe if it wasn't as drastic a colour change it might have looked better but at least I was able to get something finished up quickly which is what I was looking forward to doing.

Halloween Biscornu - September 5
After I finished the over dyed version of Sabbatical Beauty I decided that I was going to stitch it with a solid DMC colour so I quickly started it and have made a bit of progress on it.  Maybe this will be a project that will get finished up this week if I can actually sit and work on it.

Halloween Biscornu - September 4
Halloween Biscornu - here is a project that I have been fighting with since I started it.  Maybe part of it is I have wanted to work on this design on an orange fabric and just couldn't seem to be happy with using a grey fabric.

I also discovered that with this being an over dyed fabric the fabric that was originally a 28 count fabric is more like a 30 count or something like that.  I am still working on this piece but it is taking me a little longer than I had hoped to see some good progress on it.

Halloween Biscornu - September 10th
Virus Shawl - September 7
This week I was able to find some orangey fabic and decided that it might work a little better for what I really wanted for this piece.  I picked up the piece of fabric and of course had to start the new version of it. the piece doesn't show the true colour of the fabric as it is a peachy orange colour and I am loving how this is turning out.  It is also on aida so it is stitching up a little quicker so I hope to be able to get part of the biscornu finished up soon.

Virus Shawl - now this is a different shawl than I was working on last week and this is called the Virus Shawl. I found this pattern also on the Crochet Crowd website and wanted to try it out.  I am going to work on this a little bit at a time but my focus has to be back on the Fluffy Meringue shawl so that I can get it finished before the end of this month.

Fluffy Meringue Shawl - there is no picture of the shawl this week as it didn't change much.  I am working on it but had to admit that over the last week I just wasn't able to get much stitching done on it.  I like having some time where I can work on a spray at a time which is four rows and I just didn't have that time so now to get back to working on it.

Yes I have a lot of different projects on the go at one time and a lot of that is due to the need to have projects that either fit a specific mood or fits into how much time that I have to work on a project.

When you love crafting you just need to remember that you need to find the time to do what you enjoy.  Sure it might only be a few minutes at a time but at least it is a few minutes.  Doing stuff that you love to do is what is important and this week showed me that even without a lot of time I was able to get little bits of things done.

I now have some work that I need to get to so that is what the focus is going to be for today and then hopefully this evening I will be able to move something forward again.

Projects moving forward

Quotes to Live By - part 9 - Sept 3
This week I was able to work on a few projects and it does feel good seeing that I have been able to move some of them forward and actually have a finish on one of the projects.

Quotes to Live By -- this is the project that I have been working on for 8 months and was looking forward to Friday when the last section was released.  I decided that this weekend I was going to focus on this project so that I could see if I could get it finished.

Quotes to Live By - finished Sept 3
When I saw this last quote I figured it wouldn't take me too long to get it done if I could just focus on it and not get distracted on all the other projects that I wanted to work on.  Friday, I started working on the piece and Sunday evening I was able to take the project off of the q-snap and say it is finished.  The final size of the project is 18.5 inches x 13.75 inches so it is a rather large size project that is now finished.  I am happy that it is finished but also sad to see it over.

I am now going to work on some of the other projects that have been put aside while I worked on Quotes and will see what I can get accomplished over the next while.

Fluffy Meringue Shawl - Aug 27
Fluffy Meringue Shawl - I have been able to get a bit of time on this shawl and am happy with the progress on it.  I have now finished the first ball of yarn and am working on the second ball of yarn so will see how large this shawl ends up once I have finished using up the yarn that I have for it.  After I finished the first ball of yarn I realized that even with the second ball of yarn it might not be as large as I wanted so this weekend I was able to pick up two more balls of this yarn so will see how much of it I actually end up using.
Fluffy Meringue Shawl - Sept 4

I am now on the 12th spray and am going to see how many more even the second and third ball of yarn takes me.  I am not sure how large I really want this shawl but will figure that out as I go.  I know that the banquet is at the end of September so I have another 3 weeks to go to finish the shawl and think I should be able to get it to a size I am happy with by then.

Halloween Biscornu - Sept 4
Halloween Biscornu - this week I decided that I needed a couple of smaller projects to work on.  I have lots of large cross-stitch projects but nothing that is on the smaller size on the go.

I saw this pattern online in August and figured it would be something that I could work on quickly and  maybe get it done.  It is a Halloween Biscornu and I don't think it will take me long to get it done if I just sit and work on it for a few days.  Of course, because it is a biscornu there are two sides of the design so will finish this one up and then will still have the other side to do but I am thinking of these as two separate projects right now.

Sabbatical Beauty - Sept 4
Sabbatical Beauty - this is another one of the small projects that I decided that I needed to work on this week so it too got started. I figure this is something that I can pick up and work on and I should be able to get this one done quickly as well because it is only around 3 inches by 4 inches when it is finished so not large at all.

Sabbatical Beauty is using floss that I already had and fabric which I also had so that is nice. I am not sure the colour of the floss barbecue it was in an oops package that I purchased so none of the floss had colour labels.  I don't care about the colour name as it is over-dyed floss and I am enjoying working on this project.

The weekend is now over and I have some work that needs by attention so I will get that done and then I will see if I can find a little bit of time to either crochet or cross-stitch. I am looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish this week with my crafts.  I may not get as much done as I would like to achieve but even finding a bit of time each evening to do a few stitches is great.  My crafting is now I wrap up my day and din some ways it helps me solve some of the projects that I have been dealing with and it also helps relax me.

Quotes to Live By - part 9 to completed

Quotes to Live By - ready for part 9
September 1st:
I decided that as this is the last section of Quotes to Live By I was going to write a blog on how the progress goes on this piece.

The first picture of course it before the pattern is released as it comes out on September 1st. Last night we made sure that the fabric was already for when I could start the stitching. I am going to put each picture I take on the progress on this piece until the final piece is finished.

Quotes to Live By - part 9 - Sept 1
I have loved working on this project and sure it has been nine months of waiting for each section to be released but it has been something that I really enjoyed. As I write this first part of the blog I am sitting and waiting for the final pattern to be released and then I will be able to find a bit of time at some point today to get started.

The pattern for Quotes to Live By was released around 10 am on the 1st of the month  so I purchased it and then tried to find some time during the day to make a start on the piece.  I was able to get the border done a bit of the top of the design so now to see how things go over the weekend.

September 2nd:
Quotes to Live By - part 9 Sept 2nd
After getting the border done yesterday it was time to start working on the actual words of the quote so Saturday evening I was able to start working down on the quote and that makes me happy.  I am going to see how much of it I can get done over the the weekend as I would really like to see this piece finished.  I hope to be able to find some time throughout the rest of the weekend where I can be adding the different words that are part of the quote.  I will see how much more I can get done this weekend and then see how quickly I can finish up the quote.

September 3rd:
Quotes to Live by - part 9 Sept 3rd
I figured today I was going to continue to work on getting this project moved forward because I wanted to see if I could get it finished soon.  The stitching today seemed to go so much quicker than it had been going in the last couple of months so I decided to sit and see how much of this project I could get done. The words just seemed to start to appear on the fabric and that is when I realized that with a little bit of effort I was going to be able to get this piece finished before the end of the day.

I am extremely happy to say that this project is now FINISHED.  the final piece measures 18.5 inches by 13.75 inches.  I have to say that I appreciate all the support and encouragement that I have had along the way in getting this piece finished.  I have never had a project this large before even with all the stitching I have done though out the years. This piece has a very special meaning to me and yes "I should have stitched it on darker fabric."

Progress and a new project

Lady - August 16
This week I have been trying to focus on getting one cross stitch project moved forward as I wanted to see how much of it I could get done if I just focused on it instead of bouncing around on a couple of projects. I also knew that I wasn't going to have a lot of time to stitch so something where I could see some good progress would be great.

Lady - August 27
Lady -- this is the project that I decided to try and focus on to see if I could make some progress on it during this week.  I have to say that I was able to spend a couple of evenings working on this design and am happy with the progress.

I have started working on the face and hair and have also been able to get some good progress done on the cloak.  I was going to work on the face but then figured it would be great if I could spend a bit of time this weekend working on the cloak so that is what I did.  I still have quite a bit of stitching to do on the dress and the cloak but at least I can now see that I have been able to make a bit of progress on the area.

I am thinking that Lady may continue to be my focus on project until Friday when Quotes to Live By is released.  I have seen some good progress on this piece and now would like to see a bit this week.

Fluffy Meringue Shawl - August 27
Fluffy Meringue Shawl -- now this is a project that I started this week and am very happy with the progress that I have been able to make. Each of the sprays is four rows so it is a pretty simple pattern and I am loving how quickly it is working up.

I found this pattern on The Crochet Crowd and have seen a couple of pictures of the shawl finished so decided that I was going to get some yarn for it and make it for a dinner that I am going to be attending at the end of September. The pattern is called Fluffy Meringue Shawl and it is a quick project to work on. You do work on the shawl from the top down so yes the rows are getting longer as I go but with it being a simple pattern it is enjoyable to work on.  I have 8 sprays completed now and I am aiming to make it around 12 sprays long so will see how that goes and what it looks like once I get it to that size.

Besides working on these two projects I have been busy getting some of the other projects moved forward and also work has been keeping me busy.  This is the last week of the month so that means that I am going to be trying to get a few more things wrapped up before Thursday evening so will see how things go.  I hope to be able to get some stitching in on the final quote next weekend but will see how the rest of things go.

This last week I was lucky to meet someone that was also a crocheter and am looking forward to running into her again.  It is always nice to meet someone else that enjoys crafting.

Moving things forward

Cirque des Cercles - Ink Circles - Dec 29
This week I decided that I was going to try and move some pieces forward and that is what I was able to do.

Cirque des Cercles - Ink Circles - August 14
Cirque des Cercles -- now this is a project that I was working on and I hadn't picked it up since December 29th so it needed a bit of attention. I was able to spend a little bit of time on it on Monday and it felt good seeing that it finally get some attention.  I hope to be able to spend some more time on it in the next couple of months but will see how that really goes.

Linen and Threads Mystery Stitch Along - July 29th
Linen and Threads Mystery Stitch Along -  this has seen some attention in the last month but I decided that I was going to try and get the February section of the piece finished before the end of August.  I had one part of February done so it was just one section so I picked it up and worked on it for a while and finally get February done.
Linen and Threads Mystery Stitch Along - August 20

It feels so good seeing that I was finally able to get February done and since I have already started working on March I hope to be able to continue working on it and maybe get some more of that done as well before too long.

Lady - July 21
Lady - now this is a piece that I am working on for the Art Show next year so it of course needed some attention this week so it was the other piece that I decided to work on. I have been working a lot on the actual cloak and dress ares so I figured that I was going to try and get a bit more of the upper part of that done and it felt good.  I am thinking that I am going to try and work on parts of her face and hair as well for a bit of a change.  The cloak is just two colours and the dress is two colours as well so not a lot of changes of colours in that section.  The face and hair have a lot more detail so am looking forward to doing that.
Lady - August 16

Tiger Lily - August 13
Tiger Lily - now here is the other piece that got a bit of attention but not much at all. This is another one of the Art Show pieces so I am hoping to make some good progress on it over the next little while.

I am seeing parts of the flower appear now so that is nice and I am going to continue to work on it and see how quickly I can get some more of the areas done.
Tiger Lily - August 17

I am happy with the stitching that I have been able to accomplish in this last week.  I have been doing my stitching in the evenings and on the weekend.  There are a lot of other things that I have been working on and work has been keeping me busy so that is nice.  My stitching is my escape and it is also a means of me stitching my mind back together.  I sometimes use my stitching as a way of figuring out how I am going to be accomplishing something else.  My stitching is sort of like my meditation because it helps clear my mind of everything that I am working on and I quite often get the ideas that I have needed for something that I have been working on.

This week I hope to be able to get a bit more stitching done because I would like to get a couple of the art show pieces moved forward a bit more.  Until then I have work that needs my attention so I am off to do that.

Some progress on Quotes and another project

Quotes to Live By - August 7th
I was able to get a little bit of stitching done this week and am happy with some of the progress that I have been able to make.

Quotes to Live By - now this was the project that I decided that I was going to focus on first this week as I wanted to see if I could get the 8th part of the quote finished before the end of this last week.

Quotes to Live By - August 11th
After I was able to figure out the problem with the pattern I was able to focus on the actual stitching of the section and it seemed to come together pretty quickly.  I got some stitching done during the week and on Friday was able to finish off the quote so now there is just one more quote to go and then this piece is finished.

The final quote will be released on September 1st and I will try and get it done quickly to have this piece totally finished.  I look forward to having this piece off q-snap so that I can see the entire piece and not just the sections that I get to see while working on it.
Tiger Lily - July 30th

Tiger Lily - after getting Quotes to Live By done it was time to pick up a project to see if I could make a bit of a dent in it before the end of the weekend.  Tiger Lily was just that project but it didn't get any attention until Sunday evening when I finally looked at it and started to make a bit of progress on the design.

Tiger Lily - August 13th
I didn't get a lot done on the piece but at least I am slowly starting to see a bit of progress on it and that makes me happy.  I am going to see if this coming week I can spend a bit of time on this piece and will see how much of it I can actually get done.  Just seeing that the oranges are starting to make an appearance is making me happy.  I am looking forward to seeing how this piece turns out.

Once again I didn't take the pictures that I have been trying to do for the other projects that I have completed. I am starting to see that the other projects are finally starting to come together and I am getting some of them finished which makes me happy.

This week I hope to be able to get some of the other projects worked on that I have on the go right now.  I look forward to being able to show you some of the things that I have been working on but that is still a little bit of time from now.  I continue to work on the different projects and know that I will be happy when I can actually have the pictures to show for the work that I have been doing.

Today is a busy day so will see if I can get everything done that needs my attention and then maybe I will find some time to stitch.

Not a productive week

Quotes to Live By - Part 8 - August 7
I have to admit that it has been one of those weeks when stitching just didn't happen.

I started Quotes to Live By on the 1st of the month and the progress on it was extremely slow this month. The border which is something that I can normally get done quickly took me longer than I figured it should and then I decided to start working on the main part of the design and that started to make me happy because I was starting to see some progress and that was only on the 6th of the month.

Quotes to Live By - August 6
Yesterday, I was able to find a little bit of time and I continued to work on the green section of the design and I got all of that finished.  Well, as you can see from the top picture the green section is missing and that is because
I stitched it with the wrong colour. Now the reason for stitching it in the wrong colour is quite simple.  I printed the pattern off in black and white and two of the symbols look the same.  The symbol for 352 and 993 are the same on the black and white pattern.  It is only when you see the colour copy of the pattern would you discover the problem or when you go to add the next colour and figure out they just don't go together.

So instead of being able to continue to work on the design last night I ended up taking out the entire green area. I was pretty frustrated because after not getting much time to stitch this week I thought I was going to be able to make some progress on this piece finally.
The correct colour

I am not sure how much stitching I am going to be able to accomplish again this week as it is another busy week so will see how things go.

Besides not getting much time to stitch I didn't get the pictures taken that I wanted to do this last week.  I have a couple of projects that got moved forward and am happy with them.  Hopefully this week I will find some time to take some pictures of the projects and will show you what else I have been up to.

Hope everyone has a good week and I will see what I can accomplish this week.  Maybe Quotes will get some attention and maybe it won't.  I am not sure how things are going to go so will see what I actually end up stitching on.

A week with some progress

Tiger Lily - July 21st
This has been a week where I decided to try and make a bit of progress on a few projects instead of just working on one of them. I also decided that I was going to try and work on some projects that haven't had a lot of attention for a while after I worked on one of the Art show pieces.

Tiger Lily - now this is one of the Art Show pieces so I wanted to try and get a bit more work on it this week and I am happy with the progress that I made.  I finally have been able to join the top and bottom sections together and now to see how the rest of the design comes together.

Tiger Lily - July 30
I am going to continue working on Tiger Lily because I am looking forward to seeing how the flower turns out.  I keep looking at this piece and can see where some of the flower is going to appear but then again I will have to wait until I have stitched a bit more to actually see the flower. This project is taking quite a bit of time but I have been enjoying all the work on it.

Linen and Threads - Mystery Stitch Along - May 29
Linen and Threads - Mystery Stitch Along - this is a project that hasn't seen any work on it for a couple of months so I figured it was time to try and at least get a few stitches done on it.  I spent a couple of hours on this piece and saw that I at least was able to make a bit of progress on it and that made me feel good.  Maybe once Quotes to Live By is finished I will get back to working on this piece and making some good progress on it.

Linen and Threads - Mystery Stitch Along - July 29
Linen and Threads does take a bit of time to work on each of the sections because I am working on 20 count fabric over one and of course it just doesn't seem to want to work well when I am trying to get areas done quickly.

Twisted Rainbow Sampler - June 5
Twisted Rainbow Sampler - here is another project that was been put aside and hasn't seen a lot of attention in the last couple of months.  I worked on this piece in early June and then it was put aside while I worked on a bunch of the Art Show pieces.

Twisted Rainbow Sampler - July 29
It felt really good being able to get a bit more of this piece accomplished as well and it will hopefully get more attention after Quotes to Live By is finished which should be in early September as there are only two more pieces of that piece to be released. Seeing some of the colour changes happening is also nice and I am looking forward to adding some more colours to this piece.

Besides working on these pieces I have been trying to get some of the project envelopes finished so now they just need to be pressed and then snaps put on them.  I hope to take some pictures of the envelopes when they are all finished.

I have some work that needs to be done so I am now off to get that done and will see what crafting I am able to do this evening.

One crazy week

Lady - July 16
I can honestly admit that I had one crazy week where stitching wasn't something that I was able to focus on.  I did try and spend a bit of time stitching as I know it sometimes helps me stitch my mind back together.

Lady - this project got the most attention this week and I have to admit that it really wasn't as much attention as I hoped to be able to give this piece.
Lady - July 21

I am now working on filling in on the lower area and I know that it is going to take some time to get all the garnet and grey sections done.  I hope to be able to give this piece a bit more attention this week and hopefully get a bit more done on the dress and cloak.  I am trying to focus on the grey of the dress because once that is done I might feel a little better about things.

Tiger Lily - July 13
Tiger Lily - July 21
Tiger Lily - now this project got about an hour of attention this week but at least I was able to see a little bit of progress on it and that makes me feel good.  I am trying to work on some areas of this piece so that I can see some progress otherwise when I loo at it I don't see much progress.  Working on the blocks of 10 x 10 or sometimes 20 x 10 means that I am at least starting to see areas some to life.  I have almost finished connecting the top and bottom on the design and then it will be adding more of the oranges to the design.

This week my goal is to get at least the side connected together and then I will see how much more of the piece that I will be able to work on.

I didn't get a lot of sewing done this week either so nothing to show as I really didn't finish anything.  Once I can sit and do some of the sewing that I want to do I will have pictures of a bunch of things that are just wanting to be finished.  Project envelopes are close to being finished but again they still need the finishing on them all.

Hopefully this week will be a little calmer and I will be able to spend some time a couple of evenings working on my stitching.  I am not sure how much time I am going to be able to give to stitching as I have a couple of projects that are going to be taking my attention but that's fine.

It is now time for me to get some of the work done that needs to get done this week and hopefully I will be able to find some stitching time as well.

Some progress

Lady - June 25th
This week I decided that trying to focus on only a couple of pieces would be a good idea so that is what I did.  I decided that I would try and work on two of the pieces for the art show and see if I could make a bit of progress on both of them.

Lady - this is a piece that is based on some art work by an artist and I have converted her piece into a cross-stitch pattern and am now working on getting it stitched.
Lady - July 16th

I had part of her cloak outlined before I picked it up this week and now I have some of her dress outlined and have started all the filling in.  I figure having the areas that I can work on while sitting outside or when I get together with friends to stitch is great.  It means that I don't have to worry about counting stitches or looking at the pattern.  I can now just sit and stitch and enjoy the time either outside or with friends.

Tiger Lily - June 4th
Tiger Lily - this is a piece that is based on a photo and I converted it into cross-stitch and have been enjoying seeing the actual picture come to life.  I still have quite a bit more to do on this as the finished piece is going to be around 6 inches square.  I am liking how it is turning out so far so will see how much more I can get done on this piece in the next week.
Tiger Lily - July 13th

I am finally getting closer to getting the left side of the design joined and that is going to make me very happy.  Just seeing the progress that I was able to make in the last week on this is great considering the colours that I have been using.  There are a lot of colour changes in this piece so that means it is taking me longer to work on but that is fine. I am looking forward to when I am actually working on the flowers more and not just the green background which has been my focus for the last little while.

I didn't get much other crafting done last week as I tried to stay focused on the two projects.  I am now going to try and make a bit of a dent in the other things that I also have on the go and that is also after getting all my work done.

My goal this week is to continue to work on Lady and maybe Tiger Lily because I would like to see a change in both of them before the end of the week.  Other than that I have a couple of other projects that I want to work on but until they are moved forward they are just ideas so will not write about them.

I have some work that needs my attention so that will be my focus for a bit and then I will see what projects get my attention during the week and what projects will have to wait until the weekend when I can focus on them a bit more.
