Princess Sofia progress

Princess Sofia - May 18th
This past week I was able to find a bit of time to sit and work on Princess Sofia. I did miss three days of stitching but I was still able to make some progress on her and that is making me very happy.

My first focus was on getting the bottom of her dress and her shoes done and that was achieved by Saturday evening.  I was working on the lower section as I am stitching her on a scroll frame so only have part of her showing at any one time.  My frame was large enough that I could get the lower part of her dress and her shoes done but after that it meant I was going to have to roll the fabric some.
Princess Sofia - May 23rd

Saturday night was when the rolling took place as I finished the bottom and wanted to start working on the rest of her.  Now the focus on is getting her arms and the top of her dress done and then it just leaves the hair and face to go.

Yesterday I didn't get a lot of stitching done as I did enjoy some time outside sitting on the balcony and watching the neighbourhood.  The stitching I did was focused on getting one arm done and a bit of work on the top of the dress.  It feels good now that I have finished the part section as that was the section with the most work so now I am over half done.

Princess Sofia - May 24th
I am not sure how much longer it is going to take me to finish her but once the actual stitching is done there will still be the beads and such that need to be added to her dress.

Princess Sofia is coming along fairly quickly and now that I am pass the half way mark I think it will be easy to work on and see some more results quickly.

Until I am adding the beads you will only be seeing sections of the project as my scroll bar sides aren't long and I like that.  When the beads are going to be added I will move her to my q-snap frame and then I will be able to take pictures of the entire design again.

This week I hope to find some more time to get some stitching done.  Now off to get some work done and then this evening see if I can get more of Princess Sofia completed.

My little rose

my little rose
It must be at least spring as I have a rose blooming.

Now to explain this picture, this is a small rose bush that I have sitting on my desk in my home office area.  I got this little bush and it was full of blooms that quickly feel off in April.  I have been taking good care of it since then and the results of my attention is this bloom. I am looking forward to see what it looks like fully open but at least it make it this far.

I do love having plants in my office area because it gives me something to take care and see while I am at my desk.  I do have some other plants in the area like a money tree, a couple of african violets and an ivy.  These are things that add a little bit of colour into my office especially when it is dull out.

This rose is sitting on a speaker on my desk so it does get quick a bit of sunlight each day as my window faces north-west.

Do you have any plants in the area where you spend a lot of your time?  This office area is also one of the areas where I do some of my stitching as well.

A little bit of colour and nature inside is nice.  You never know but this little rose may end up as a pattern.

Progress and a long weekend

Princess Sofia - May 10th
Princess Sofia - May 18th
What can I say other than yes I was able to get some stitching done in the last week and am very happy with the progress.

Now, one of the reasons why this post is a day late is because we had a three day weekend here in Ontario so I spent part of it stitching and not on the computer.  Princess Sofia is coming along and I am now working on the very lower section of her dress so am happy with the progress that I was able to make.  With working on the lower section of the dress it also means I am using some different colours than the blues that I have been working on so that is also a nice change.  I am going to work on getting the lower part of her dress done and her foot so that I can then move up and work on her arms and the rest of her dress.

I didn't get all of this stitching done over the weekend but I was also able to find time most evenings so that helped as well.

I am not sure how much stitching I am going to be able to get accomplished this week as it is a little busier than I would have liked.  I do know that the evenings that I do have some time to stitch, I will be stitching to see how much I can get done by the end of next weekend.  My goal was to make sure that by the end of May I would have at least half the blocks completed on the pattern.  It looks like if I can continue with my stitching I should be able to do that without too much of a problem.

Other than cross-stitching I have been able to crochet a couple of baby hats so that was a nice change as well this weekend.  Now, work is calling so I better get back to it.

Another week and some progress

Princess Sofia - May 3
This past week I was able to find a couple of evenings for stitching time and am very happy that I did.  I also was able to spend a little bit of the weekend sitting and enjoying some sports and stitching.

Princess Sofia is coming along pretty quickly and I am happy with how it is looking so far.  I know that I still have quite a bit of work ahead of me on this piece but that doesn't matter because at least I am seeing some progress each time I look at it.

This week I am hoping to be able to do some stitching each evening so that I can continue to make progress on this piece.  My evening stitching does depend on the other demands on my time like making sure I have all the work done for clients that needs to be done.

Princess Sofia - May 10
Yesterday while I was stitching I was looking at some of the colours to make sure that they all worked together especially the ones for her arms and face. I did notice that a couple of the colours that I was going to use didn't look as nice as I would like for the arms and face so I got out my collection of threads and figured out what I think are colours that will work a lot better in the face and arms.

Schlock with Gun
Now another note that I wanted to share with you is Schlock with gun is going to be restitching as I wasn't as happy as I would have liked to be with it.  One of the colours just doesn't seem to work so after some thinking about it I have decided on one colour change and now I need to restitch this piece.  I think with this simple change the shadows and such will look a lot better once they are completed.  I know when I was stitching the piece I kept questioning this one colour but never really sat back and looked at it.

So Schlock with gun has been put back into my to be stitched pile and will see when I can get some of it done and the first thing I will be doing is the new colour so make sure that it is going to work better than the bright gold/brown that I used last time.

Now I must get some work done so that this evening I will be able to work on Princess Sofia for a little while.  This week I would like to see some really good progress on her so that means I need to make sure I have that stitching time.

A finish and some progress

Schlock with gun - April 26th
This past week I was able to find some stitching time and am happy with the results that I was able to achieve.

Schlock with gun - finished May 1st
Schlock with gun is now completed as I was able to finish it on Friday evening.  I figured it wouldn't take me long to get it done but needed the time to just sit and work on it for a few hours.  I focused on getting this project done so that I could then start working on another project without the distraction of wanting to get this done finished.

Of course once Schlock with gun was finished it didn't take me too long to pick up the next project that I was going to try and focus on for a little while.
Princess Sofia - April 23rd

For me the next project that I am going to try and focus on is Princess Sofia and what is what this past weekend was for me.  On Saturday I was able to get a couple of hours of stitching in and I started to see some good results on the piece.  Sunday was an entirely different day as I spent the afternoon sitting and stitching and saw some really good progress on the piece.  Of course after sitting yesterday all I wanted to do was continue stitching so that I could see how much more I could get done.
Princess Sofia - May 3rd

The next time I pick up the needle to stitch I think I am going to see if there is a different colour close to where I have been stitching.  I spent the entire afternoon on Sunday working on one colour so I do need a little bit of break from that colour as I still have lots of it to go.

Princess Sofia is starting to come to life and that is making me very happy.  I know that there is still lots and lots of work ahead of me on this piece but it is nice to see a bit of progress on it.  I really hope the little girl that will be receiving this piece likes it.

This week I hope to be able to find some stitching time in the evenings.  Will see how much stitching time I will actually get in.

Time now to do the work that is sitting on my desk so that I can have the stitching time this evening.
