Progress, a finish and a new start

Here it is the start of another week and the sun is shining and that is a nice thing.  Yes, here in Ontario we are dealing with an increase of Covid-19 cases again so now to see what happens with everything regarding that.  We remain safe and continue to work as much as possible remotely.

Blushing - now here is a project that continues to keep me motivated in stitching.  I am loving seeing how each week the rose changes and the background continues to get filled in.  It still have a ways to go before it is complete but I have to admit that I continue to love this project.

I continue to try and work on this a little bit each day and weekends are when I can get more time to stitch and therefore bigger areas can get completed. I still have quite a bit of confetti along the side of the rose to complete but I do that a little bit at a time as it makes it a little easier to do.  I am trying to focus on the top left page of the design instead of bouncing all over and that is helping some because now I am seeing larger areas completed instead of areas all over the entire piece.

Socks - now here is the finish as well as the new start. I started this pair of socks last weekend and this weekend I was able to start to knit the second sock in the pair.  Yes, I finished the first sock on Thursday and then immediately cast on for the second one of this pair. I knew if I didn't start the second sock quickly I might want to start another pair of a different colour instead.

I love how the first one turned out and am looking forward to seeing how quickly I can get the second sock knit. I did try and make sure that I have the colours very close to the same on both of the socks and considering how I started the first sock not thinking about the changes I am happy that the second sock is very close to the same set up as the first one.

I have other colours of this yarn waiting to be worked on but I know that I need to make sure that I work these socks in pairs instead of just working one sock of each colour and then try and make the second sock.

I haven't done a lot of other crafts this week as I have been working on work and these two projects.  Now to see what this week has in store as I know that there are quite a few things that I need to get working on.  I know that work will keep my busy planning a couple of projects for clients and then of course there is the usual monthly work that needs to get completed as well.

I hope everyone has a good week and you continue to stay safe and you find a bit of time each day to do the things that you love.

Progress and a new start

Blushing Sept 13
Here it is Monday morning and I am going to try and show you what I have been working on in the last week.  Yes, Covid-19 cases have been increasing in Ontario, so that means things have changed a bit but at least we are staying safe and doing what is needed.

Blushing - now here is the project that has got a lot of attention in the last week.  After getting the bottom section done I decided it was time to work on seeing if I could get to the top corner of the design.  After some work this week I was able to get to the top left corner and also get more of the designed moved forward.  I am happy with the progress that I was able to make this week and now to see what I can do over the next little while.

Blushing Sept 20

Blushing has been moving forward a little quicker than I thought it would go and maybe part of that is because of how much I have been enjoying working on this piece. It is nice having a bunch of colours to add to the overall design but it is also nice to have areas where there are large blocks of a single colour.  I hope to see more changed to this piece over the next week but will have to what and see how this week goes.

I am loving how the various colours are helping to outline the different parts of the rose.  Now to add more stitches into this piece over the next week to see the next sections.

Sock - I decided that while I was working on a bunch of things that I wanted to do, it was time to work on some fun projects. I decided it was time to start another sock.Sock Sept 20

The yarn that I am using for these socks is called Perfect Pair and it is by Loops and Thread.  It is an acrylic, bamboo and polyester blend and I have to admit that I am loving this yarn.  I picked up four different colours of yarn and immediately had to start one of the versions.  Of course, the first ball I picked was the one with the teal colours in it.  I am currently working on a tube sock on my 9-inch circular needles.  I started this sock on Sunday afternoon and by the time I put it down Sunday evening I had completed over 8 inches of the sock.  It is such a nice yarn to work on and I am happy that I got a few different colours to make.

A lot of people have asked me how I can work on such a small circular needle but I really enjoy it.  I find that I can hold the needle and get a lot of knitting done quickly.  I know that a lot of people prefer using double-pointed needles when they knit socks but for me my little circular needle works great.  I will need to use double-pointed needles when I get to the toe of the sock but until then I will be using my circular needle. Here is a picture of me holder this circular needle and I don't find it difficult at all.

Other projects are getting bits of attention but really not a lot of attention.  I am trying to keep my focus on only a couple of projects at a time as it helps me feel like I am making progress on things.

I hope everyone has a good week and remember to try and spend a little bit of time each day doing something that you love.  I am now off to get some work done and then will see what I work on later.

Another week and one finish

Blushing Sept 6Here it is another Monday morning and another week of what might be the new normal.  I am happy with how things are slowly starting to seem a little back to normal but maybe that is because my little bubble is a little more normal.  We continue to work remotely for our clients so that hasn't changed and it was basically a lot of what we were doing before Covid-19.  Other things are starting to get back to normal with a busier schedule so yes that is more normal for us.

Blushing - this piece got a bit of attention this week and what I was able to accomplish was filing in all of those single stitches around the bottom of the rose. By getting all of those single stitches done it means that I am now finished the 3 bottom pages of this pattern and now only have the top 3 remaining to stitch.

Blushing Sept 13

I would like to continue to get more of this piece stitched as it is making me feel very good seeing that I have got this much done as quickly as I have.  I started this piece in June but didn't have it as a focus until the middle of July so I am happy with the progress that I have made on it in the last couple of months.  The top three pages are bigger pages so I will see how long it makes me to get each of them completed.

V-stitch baby afghan - this week I was able to sit some evenings and focus on getting the baby afghan finished up. Once I was able to focus on this project it didn't take me long to get it done.

I used just over one ball of yarn for this project and I used Lion Brand "Ice Cream" and it was nice to work with and I love the variegated effect that it gives on this piece.  Now that this project is finished I will be looking to figure out which knitting or crocheting project gets my attention next.

Of course, there are a lot of other projects that are keeping me busy but at least I am slowly starting to see some finishes.  I hope that I can continue to get bits of finishes done over the next while as I know that also makes me happy.

I hope everyone continues to find the little bits of time each day to do the things that you love to do.  It doesn't matter what you do but taking that few minutes each day to yourself is important.  Take care and stay safe.

Some good progress

Blushing Aug 30Here it is the start of another week and things are slowly getting back to some sort of normal or at least it might be doing that.  Schools are starting to reopen this week and kids are going back to school.  Some offices are still closed with staff working from home but at least things are starting to move forward.

Blushing - now here is a project that got quite a bit of attention this week.  I wanted to try and see how much of it I could get done if I focused on it and I made some good progress.

One of the

Blushing Sept 6

goals that I had for September was to get 50% of this project completed and on Sunday I was able to achieve that goal.  I am now going to see how much more of this project I can get done before the end of the year as it would be nice to see quite a bit of it done but it will all depend on everything else that is going on.

Another goal that I had was to stitch 10,000 stitches on a project between August 3rd and September 30th.  This was a challenge that was in the Heaven and Earth Facebook group.  I figured that considering I wanted to get to the 50% mark I should try and reach this goal as well.  It ended up that the two goals were only 50 stitches apart so I got both of them achieved on Sunday. Now I need to start filling in other little areas with some stitches so that is my goal for the next little while.  Yes it means a lot of changing threads because in the lower section their might only be 3 - 10 stitches of a colour but I would like the bottom of the pattern finished soon.

Pandemic Aug 30

Pandemic - after working on Blushing most of the week I decided that Pandemic needed to get a bit of attention yesterday.  After working on something with lots of colours it is actually nice to have something that is a single colour.

This project considering the size of it isn't going to look like much for quite a while but at least if I can move it forward even a little bit each month I will be happy. Pandemic currently is the project that I work on when I need a bit of change from Blushing or when I just have a few minutes to add some stitches into something.

The area that I am working on is the lower left page of the

Pandemic Sept 7

pattern and considering there is 20 pages to this design I will be seeing this project around for quite a while.

Other than working on these two pieces I haven't had a lot of time to craft.  I have tried to get a few more rows added to the baby blanket but that is about it.  I know that things might start to settle down a little bit now that the cooler weather is here or at least that is what I hope.  Work is still around and keeping me busy.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and you continue to stay safe.  Try and find little bits of time each day to do the things that you love.  It does help make what we are going through not seem quite so bad.
