Enjoying the progress

Here it is the start of another week, and it is a little cooler out than it has been for the last few days. The heat and humidity did mean that it was harder to pick up projects and work on them.

Given how hot it was out I am happy with the progress that I made on my projects over the last week. Just being able to sit for a little bit of time helped move the projects forward even if it wasn't a lot of progress all at once.

Jane Parson - I am loving this project and all the different colours that are in it. I have been trying to add more of the colours and over the last couple of days I was able to add more detail to the border.  I continue to bounce around on the overall project which doesn't bother me at all. What I have been trying to do is add a colour and take it where I can throughout the project. Of course, it means that the alphabet still isn't finished but I will finish it up at some point.

Yesterday, I decided to work on getting some of the flower details done on the border. It was nice to start to see that the border isn't really as hard as I thought, but maybe because I am working on it one colour at a time helped. I could have done each flower, one at a time but that would have meant a lot of changing the floss in my needle and I didn't want to do that.

The colours in this design are what I am also liking because there are some brighter colours and then some softer colours. There were two different variants of this pattern and I decided to do the vibrant version because they just looked a little nicer to me with my fabric.

Now, I hope to be able to spend some more time this coming with on Jane as I would like to see if I can get the rest of the darker pink done on the border and then maybe see what the lighter pink looks like.

Preemie Blanket - here is a project that didn't get much attention at all this week. As the temperature was rising, I was less interested in picking this up. I was able to get a few rows done at the beginning of the week before it got hot and then yesterday after the temperature started to cool down.

It is nice having this project because I can pick it up and work on it when I want, and I don't feel the pressure to complete a specific number of rows because each row is the same.

Hopefully this week I will be able to add a few more rows to this project as the weather is supposed to be cooler, so working on this should be a little easier or at least I hope it will be.

Other projects - of course, with it being hot and humid out I did spend some time sitting on the balcony trying to stay cool. What did get some attention this week was the EPP scrap throw. Just being able to work on something small was good, so now to see what it looks like tomorrow when I write my EPP blog.

I hope everyone is continuing to find that bit of time each day to do something for yourself. There have been days when crafting just didn't work but I found another means of taking those few minutes for myself and recharging my personal batteries.

The weather here is cooler now than it was last week, so I will see what I can get done over the next week. The schedule is a little busier this week so will just have to see what happens.

Hope everyone has a good week and I look forward to writing my EPP blog tomorrow for July progress and then I will also see you next week hopefully with some other crafting progress.

Some progress on projects

Here it is the start of another week and hopefully one that is a little slower, so that I can see what I can get done. It is nice to be busy, but then there are the times that having too many things on the go doesn't work well either.

The weather here is again hot and humid so that does make it a little harder to get things done, but at least being able to sit on the balcony makes it a little easier to deal with. This week they are calling for hotter days, so will have to see what I can get done.

Jane Parson - here is the cross stitch piece that got the attention in the last week. I have been really enjoying working on this piece and am looking forward to seeing what it is like once it is finished. I haven't done a sampler with a lot of colours for a while, so I have been trying to figure out how to move it forward the easiest way possible.

I have been bouncing around on the project quite a bit and part of that is because I pick a colour and then see where it takes me. Yes, I could have worked from the bottom up one colour at a time, but this has been a lot more fun. I am seeing the entire project come to life and soon I will pick up some of the colours for the flowers and start to add them in all around the border.

I still have a lot of stitching to go to finish this project, but I am enjoying it and look forward to picking it up when I can. The one thing I haven't done is put pressure on myself to figure out when I would like this piece done by. I am going to work on it for a while and hopefully will get it close to a finish.

Preemie blanket - here is the knitting that I have been doing in the last week. I didn't get as much knitting done as I thought I would but at least I was able to add another 26 rows to the piece. It is a simple pattern and something that I should be able to pick up more often than I have. This is a project that I have said I could work on while sitting outside on the balcony and I think I have only done that once since I started the blanket.

What I am going to try and do now is make sure that when I am sitting outside, I have this project available because it would be nice to see more of this project done. It shouldn't take that long to get to the middle of the blanket, but that also means that I need to work on it instead of just sitting outside and doing nothing other than watching the neighbourhood.

Now to see what I can get done on this blanket in the coming week. It would be nice to see it continue to grow as it also means that the faster it grows the faster I use up some more of my yarn.

Other projects - of course my EPP is still moving forward and there will be some progress to show at the end of the month on it. It has been the project that I have been trying to work on a little bit at a time and right now it has been getting quite a bit of attention.

I hope everyone is finding that relax time to do something for themselves each day. It doesn't have to be a long time but those few minutes each day does help. I am not sure what I will be working on this week and how much time I will have but hopefully I will have some more progress to show you next week.

A couple of new projects

Here it is the start of another week and maybe a little slower week workwise for us. We have had a couple of crazy weeks, so now we are going to slow down just a bit and maybe see how things go.

This coming week, I am going to try and make some progress on at least a couple of projects, but I will see which ones get the attention.

Jane Parson - here is a new start that I did last Tuesday. I started this along with a friend for her birthday, and I am happy with the progress that I have made on it. I decided to try and work on finishing up a couple of the colours quickly and have two of the colours already off the list.

This week I hope to be able to make a bit more progress on this piece, as it would be nice to see how quickly I can get it done. The piece is only 8 inches x 7 inches so not very big, but there are quite a few colours in it so that means quite a bit of colour changes in the areas.

Preemie blanket - this is a project that I started yesterday because I wanted something that I could work on sitting outside when it is hot and humid out. The pattern calls for you to increase until there are 170 stitches on the needle, but what I am going to do is increase until I run out of yarn from the ball of yarn I am working with. I have two balls of yarn, so I figured instead of only using part of the second ball I will just make this piece as large as the two balls of yarn allow. This is a very simple pattern and right now it is working up quickly, but I don't think it will be long before the rows are taking longer to complete.

Having a project like this right now is wonderful because it doesn't sit on my legs right now, so during this hot weather it is something that I can at least move forward for a while. I hope that I can continue to work on this project this coming week because it would be nice to see how big it is going to be.

Other projects - I have been working on my EPP just a little bit this week so will see how it goes through the rest of the month. I know that just being able to continue to see progress on things would be great, so will see how that goes.

I hope everyone continues to find that bit of time each day to do something for yourself. It doesn't matter what you do, but at least having that bit of time to recharge your own personal batteries is very important. Hope everyone has a good week and I hope to have some progress on thing to show you next week.

A small bit of progress

Here it is the start of another week and now to see how it goes. It has been hot and humid here so that means that I haven't got a lot of crafting done. Also, the last week was a very crazy work week so that also meant not a lot of time to spend working on projects.

Summer is Coming - here is a project that did get started over the weekend as it was finally cool enough that I wanted to pick up some cross stitch again. This is in the same series as Winter is Coming so it isn't a huge project and something that I am going to be trying to work on over the next little while.

I do have another project that I will be starting on Tuesday, so this piece won't get a lot of attention but at least I have it around for when I need a bit of a change from the other project.

Table runner - yes, I am showing you some English Paper Piecing and it isn't the first of the month. The reason this project is here is because this is what I was working on most of the week. It was something that I could pick up and work on for a few minutes at a time and I could see progress on it.

This project also was a great one to work on while sitting on the balcony, trying to stay cool. I am happy with the number of motifs I was able to add to this piece over the last week because again I didn't have a lot of time to work on things. I hope to be able to add some more motifs to this project before the end of the month so that I can show you how much further I got on this piece.

Other projects - I can honestly admit that I didn't work on anything else this week. It has been a crazy week with regards to work and then the heat and humidity made it hard to focus or want to do anything.

This coming week I hope to be able to spend some time working on some projects and I will see how it goes. I hope everyone is finding those little bits of time to do something for yourself because it really does make a difference.

I hope to have something to show you next week, but I will just have to wait and see how things go. Have a good week and enjoy the time you have doing whatever you do.

A finish and a bit of progress

Here it is the start of another week and another busy one for us. The weather here is also hot and humid so that means not a lot of crafting gets done.

This week I hope to be able to find bits of time to do something, but it will depend on how humid it is because trying to knit or stitch doesn't work too well when it's like that out.

Winter is Coming - here is a project that I was able to pick up and work on in the last week. I wanted to see if I could get it finished before the end of June and I did. I am happy with how it turned out and am now looking forward to doing the other three seasons. It was a nice quick stitch which is what I wanted.

Diagonal Garter Shawl - this project did get a bit of attention this week but not as much as normal. I was busier than I have been and also the weather turned hot and humid and trying to knit something like this doesn't work too well. I worked on it a couple of days but that was about it so it didn't grow too much.

If I can find some time to work on this shawl this week it would be nice but given that the forecast is for hot and humid days, I don't think this will be getting a lot of attention. I do have some other knitting that I could be doing so maybe that is what I will try and do this week if even working on knitting will work.

Knitting in the summer is always a little harder because you have to work on it when the yarn doesn't stick to your hand and when it is cool enough to have something resting on your legs.

Other projects - over the weekend I was able to make some progress on my English Paper piecing projects so that has felt good. Now to see how much I can get done before the end of the month so that I might have some really good progress to show.

I hope everyone is finding that bit of time each day to do something that you enjoy. The recharging of the personal batteries is very important. Make sure that you find those few minutes each day to do something for you.

Hopefully I will have some progress to show you on something next week. Until then, have a good week and if you are dealing with the heat and humidity, try and stay cool.

English Paper Piecing - June progress

Here it is the start of another month and time for an update on what I have been working on with regards to my English Paper Piecing Projects

Large Throw - this past month I decided it was time to try and get a lot of the motifs made for the third version of this throw.

My focus was to try and get as many of the motifs made as I could and that is exactly what I did. I worked on making these motifs until I ran out of the templates that I had available.  What this means is I have to get back to joining motifs to the second throw so that I can start to free up the templates so that I can finish all the motifs for the third throw.

I hope to get back to working on the second throw soon as it would be nice to have that one finish. The first throw still is waiting to have the quilting finished and the binding added on.

Scrap Throw - the scrap throw project did get some attention this month as I decided it was something that I could work on and maybe get it moved forward.

I have now started to add more of the motifs to this project and have discovered an easier way to do that. Instead of just joining the motifs around and around like I have been doing I have decided to make small groups of the motifs and then add them to the overall throw.

This project is easy to work on when I am sitting outside because currently it is smaller and easier to move around. If I keep adding the motifs to it, it won't take long where this project is going to be something that I can't move around too easily just like the large motif throws.

I am still working on making some of the motifs as well because I haven't finished getting them all done. Once I have finished all the motifs for the middle of the throw, I am going to have to start working on making some of the motifs for the border that I want on this piece. This project is going to take a while to complete but I am having a lot of fun working on it.

Table runner - here is a project that I started a long time ago when I first started doing English Paper Piecing. It is going to be a table runner once I have finished joining all the motifs to it.

All of the motifs have been made for this project, so it is just a matter of sitting down and working on getting it finished. I am going to try and work on this project a bit at a time as it would be nice to have this project finished. I know that I started this project in 2020 and it hadn't seen any attention until I pulled it out and decided it was time to get it moved forward.

Other projects - I currently don't have any other projects on the go which is good given everything that I am working on. Of course, there are a few more ideas bouncing around in my head so that means that once I can get these projects done, I will have a lot of other ideas to choose from. There is fabric ready to be cut for a new project, but I am going to wait for a while before I even start cutting it because if the squares are ready, I would want to start making motifs.

If you are making motifs or joining motifs together, I hope that you are seeing progress. Next month I hope to have a bit more progress on these projects, but time and weather will determine what I get done.  Have a good month, and I will see you at the beginning of August.
