A finish, a new start and some progress

When I say that the weather has improved, I mean that the heat and humidity aren't so bad. Now we are dealing with an air quality statement because of smoke from the fires in Western Canada. Hopefully things will resolve soon, and things will be a little nicer.

Silver Anniversary
- here is the cross stitch piece that I worked on over the last week. I wanted to see how much of it I could get stitches given the heat and everything and I am happy with the progress that I was able to make on it.

It is hard to believe that another week has come and gone already. It feels like I just wrote one of these blogs showing my projects and it's time again to write it. The weather has improved here which is also good because it means that I can focus on things again which is good.

There are quite a few different shades of grey, so it does take a while to get sections of it moved forward. This time that I worked on it I selected one colour and tried to work on it as far as I could just to see if I could make some more progress on the piece.

I am happy where I got to on this project for the last week and it is now time for it to go away for a little while so that I can pull out another project and give it some attention for the next week.  Hopefully I will be able to make some good progress, but we will have to wait and see.

Cranberry Fizz Shawl - here is the shawl that I was worked on at the beginning of the week as I was trying to get it finished. What I had left to do after last weekend was the cast off, but I knew that it was going to take some time to get it done. With the weather being like it was at the beginning of the week the best place to work on the shawl was sitting on the balcony and that is where I sat. I was able to spend the time needled to get all the stitches cast off and now the shawl is finished.

We did have a bit of a scare when I was casting out because I didn't know if I was going to have enough yarn to complete the cast off, but I did and I think I ended up with around 6 inches of yarn left so that was cutting it a little too close for my comfort. At this the shawl is finished and now when the weather is a little cooler, I will block this shawl, and it will be ready to wear.

Of course, finishing one project means it's time to put something else onto the needles and later that day I picked up and cast on another project.

Peace of Wild Things - this is the new shawl that I cast on and am happy with the progress that I have been able to make on this piece. This shawl called for adding beads to the piece so that was something that I hadn't done before so I figured out how to do it with the crochet hook and off I went. I am going to be working on this project this coming week and we will see what it looks like by the end of the coming weekend. I will see if I can work on this a bit each day and hopefully get it close to a finish by the end of this weekend.

Other projects - I haven't worked on any other projects in the last week so now to see what this week has in store. Today, is a holiday here in Ontario so that means that I am going to be spending some of my day crafting and seeing what I can get moved forward.

I hope everyone is finding a bit of time each day to do something that you enjoy doing. Making sure we recharge our personal batteries is important. Hope everyone has a good week and hopefully I will have some progress on a couple of things to show you next week.
