Making some good progress

Here it is the start of another week, and the weather has cooled down some so that means I have been able to make progress on a couple of my projects. Summer is also winding down and students go back to school next week here in Toronto.

Pandemic - here is the project that got my cross stitch attention for the last week. It makes me happy to see that I have been able to continue to move this project forward.

This past week I worked on a bunch of different areas as I just wanted to see progress on the piece, and it didn't matter where it was. It felt great seeing that I have been able to move the various sections forward and hopefully I will be able to do it again when I pick this up again in September.

This coming week I will be working on a different project and then Pandemic will be coming back out for some more attention.

Floating Shawl - here is the knitting project that has got quite a bit of attention this past week. I have completed the first ball of yarn and have completed the final increase so now onto the lace work and then the border. It does take quite a bit of time to get each row completed now as there are 519 stitches on my needle. This pattern has been nice to work on as it is garter stitch with some increases and some lace work.

This coming week I will be trying to move this project forward some more as I would like to see the shawl finished soon. I think this is going to be one of those shawls that gets worn quite a bit once it's finished.

Other projects - I haven't worked on any other projects again this week as I have been focused on moving these two projects forward. Now to see what happens this week because I would like to pick up my English Paper Piecing for a little while.

I hope everyone has been able to find those bits of time to relax and do something that you enjoy. I am going to continue to work on moving projects forward and hopefully next week I will have some more progress to show you.

Progress, a new start and a finish

Here it is the start of another week, and I am going to try and update you with the various projects that I have been working on. At least it is finally cooler here so that means that I might be able to spend some time working on the projects that I would like to see moved forward.

Mini Magic of Books - this past week I decided that I was going to try and move this piece forward a bit because I would like to get more of the black completed.

What I discovered was this piece wasn't calling me, so it was time to put it down and work on something that I wanted to try and get more progress on. I tried to work on this piece for at least part of the week but after not getting a lot of progress on it, I knew it was time to put it down and try and work on something else.

Pandemic - here is the piece that has been calling me for a while, and I knew it was time for me to pick it up again to see if I could make some good progress on it. I wasn't going to pick this piece up until this Monday but after having some issues with Mini Magic of Books, I knew I needed to see if I could at least make some progress on this piece before the end of the weekend.

I am so happy with what I have been able to accomplish this week, and I hope that I can continue to move this forward this coming week. It is going to be the project that gets the attention this coming week as I would like to see how much more of it, I can get done.  Being able to lose myself in this stitching is making me feel so much better which is good. I know that i need to work on the projects that are calling me and if something doesn't work out I need to set it aside and pick up something else and hopefully I can make some good progress on it.

Piece of Wild Things - this is the knitting project that I was working on with the hopes to get it finished quickly and I was able to achieve that.

I knew that if I could just focus on this piece, I should be able to get it completed and before very long I got it off the needles and now it is just waiting to be blocked and the ends sewn in.

Floating Shawl - here is the next shawl that I now have on my needles. This project is moving forward nicely right now, and we will see how long it is before it is finished.

This shawl is going to be taking more yarn, so it won't be finished as quickly as the other shawls that I have been doing. At least I have been able to make some good progress on it this week, and we will see how it goes moving forward. I have wanted to try and make a shawl that I can wear that covers my arms more and I think is going to be the shawl for that.

Other projects - I haven't worked on any other projects this week as I was trying to stay focused on work on the projects that I had on my needles. I do need to pickup my English Paper Piecing, so that is something that I need to do before the end of the month.

I hope everyone is finding that bit of time each day to recharge your personal battery as it is important to do that. If things go well this week, I hope to have some progress to show you next week on some of the projects.

Moving projects forward

It is hard to believe that another week is over ,and I am going to be showing you what I have been working on over the last week. We are currently back into another heat wave so that makes getting things achieved a little harder.

Mini Unleash the Butterflies - here is the cross stitch project that I worked on this week and I am happy with the progress that I was able to make on it. After I finished Mini The Forgotten, I knew that it was time to pull this piece out and start to move it forward.

The first thing that I needed to do was to work on some of the butterflies. Given I was right there I knew it was a sign that the butterfly had to be the first thing to appear when I picked it up again. I haven't worked on this piece since September 2022, so it was time for it to get some attention. I hope to be able to continue to move this piece forward some more before the end of the year. I know I won't be getting this piece finished this year but at least moving it forward a bit more would be nice.

Peace of the Wild Things - here is the knitting project that got the attention this week. I have been trying to get this shawl finished, but I didn't quite make it this week.  I have been able to make some good progress on the shawl, and it shouldn't be long before it is finished, and I will be able to enjoy it once the weather cools down a little bit.

This shawl is still on straight needles, but I have to be extremely careful when I move it around as I don't have much room left on the needle.

Other projects - I haven't done a lot of other things this week given the heat and humidity. The balcony knitting project has been getting bits of attention as well as my car knitting project. Both of those projects have got a bit of attention this past week, so they are getting moved forward slowly.

I hope everyone is dealing with the weather you are having the best way possible. For us, it is trying to get things done quickly during the morning so that when the heat gets too bad, we can hide on the balcony and try and stay cool.

This week I am going to be picking up a different cross stitch project and will see how much of it I can get accomplished. I also hope to get the shawl finished as I already have the next shawl pattern picked up and it's ready to go.

I hope everyone has a good week and you are able to get the things you enjoy doing done this week. If you are dealing with the heat warnings, please remember to try and stay cool and hydrated.

A finish, a new start and some progress

When I say that the weather has improved, I mean that the heat and humidity aren't so bad. Now we are dealing with an air quality statement because of smoke from the fires in Western Canada. Hopefully things will resolve soon, and things will be a little nicer.

Silver Anniversary
- here is the cross stitch piece that I worked on over the last week. I wanted to see how much of it I could get stitches given the heat and everything and I am happy with the progress that I was able to make on it.

It is hard to believe that another week has come and gone already. It feels like I just wrote one of these blogs showing my projects and it's time again to write it. The weather has improved here which is also good because it means that I can focus on things again which is good.

There are quite a few different shades of grey, so it does take a while to get sections of it moved forward. This time that I worked on it I selected one colour and tried to work on it as far as I could just to see if I could make some more progress on the piece.

I am happy where I got to on this project for the last week and it is now time for it to go away for a little while so that I can pull out another project and give it some attention for the next week.  Hopefully I will be able to make some good progress, but we will have to wait and see.

Cranberry Fizz Shawl - here is the shawl that I was worked on at the beginning of the week as I was trying to get it finished. What I had left to do after last weekend was the cast off, but I knew that it was going to take some time to get it done. With the weather being like it was at the beginning of the week the best place to work on the shawl was sitting on the balcony and that is where I sat. I was able to spend the time needled to get all the stitches cast off and now the shawl is finished.

We did have a bit of a scare when I was casting out because I didn't know if I was going to have enough yarn to complete the cast off, but I did and I think I ended up with around 6 inches of yarn left so that was cutting it a little too close for my comfort. At this the shawl is finished and now when the weather is a little cooler, I will block this shawl, and it will be ready to wear.

Of course, finishing one project means it's time to put something else onto the needles and later that day I picked up and cast on another project.

Peace of Wild Things - this is the new shawl that I cast on and am happy with the progress that I have been able to make on this piece. This shawl called for adding beads to the piece so that was something that I hadn't done before so I figured out how to do it with the crochet hook and off I went. I am going to be working on this project this coming week and we will see what it looks like by the end of the coming weekend. I will see if I can work on this a bit each day and hopefully get it close to a finish by the end of this weekend.

Other projects - I haven't worked on any other projects in the last week so now to see what this week has in store. Today, is a holiday here in Ontario so that means that I am going to be spending some of my day crafting and seeing what I can get moved forward.

I hope everyone is finding a bit of time each day to do something that you enjoy doing. Making sure we recharge our personal batteries is important. Hope everyone has a good week and hopefully I will have some progress on a couple of things to show you next week.

English Paper Piecing - July progress

Here it is the start of another month and time to show how much progress I was able to make on my English Paper Piecing. The weather here has been extremely hot and humid so making progress on things was rather difficult. I also worked on finishing a cross stitch piece in July so that also took some time away from my EPP.

Scrap throw - I at least was able to get a few motifs completed for the scrap throw but that was all the EPP that I worked on through the month of July. I am disappointed with how little I got done but then I can also say I at least get something done which is good.

Other projects - of course, there are a lot of projects that I would like to work on. If I could focus on moving something forward it would be great, so we are going to see what happens in August.

Hopefully the weather will be a little cooler and less humid than July and that might help me want to spend the time working on my projects that haven't had a lot of attention for a while now. I have some ideas for moving my projects forward a bit more, but I am going to see if they work before I say anything about them.

If you are working on an EPP project I hope that you are being able to move it forward even a little bit at a time because at least it is something. I hope to have some more progress to show you at the end of August, but we will have to wait and see how things go.
